Temperature Sensor for Motor Home

A while back I read that someone had a temperature sensor for their motor home which would alert them if the temperature went to high, to low or the power went out when they were not in the motor home and their pets were in there. Seemed to send a message to their cell phone. Anyone know what it is?

Update: I'll have to purchase on of Verizon's WiFi hot spot devise sepertely. Then order the TempSpot WiFi Temperature alarm.

WiFi hotspots are worth it as they can do double duty. When in a cg with weak or no WiFi we can use ours to still access the Internet. With these new temp sensor devices it will allow us to also monitor the rv with our dogs inside. Got to love that multi-tasking.

I'm able to purchase a pay as you go (no contract) WiFi hot spot from Verizon which is good since I'll need this Temp devise during the summer months.

I'm also reading up on a few other manufacturers, as well as calling Verizon back to verify my ability to do the $30.00 (well she said it was a free upgrade, but who knows till I talk to them again) to a SmartPhone. After which Verizon (per the tech rep) has multiple home monitoring devises which I can monitor using the phone after installing the application (?) for the devise.

One devise has a camera, temp sensor, and a few other features. According to the tech rep, I can see what's going on in the rig, check the present ambient temp in the Eagle, and give Calvin a snack as well as a few other stuff (OK, just kidding about giving Calvin a snack).

BUT, yup, the big BUT. This may change my unlimited internet contract if I do it this way. If it does, than I'm back to just a temp sensor.

Now I'm starting to get a headache!

I'm looking at this setup for my RV -http://www.absoluteautomation.com/cellular-freeze-alarm-kit/ - it'll let me have WiFi, plus I can use the little Temp. Sensor to monitor everything.

After speaking to the Verizon Tech rep. Although I have to reconfirm a few areas before considering / proceeding in this direction.

I can upgrade my base phone to a Smart Phone. Download an application that will connect (?) with one of Verizon'a room control units which has a camera, temperature alarm (which will also tell you the present temp in the room) as well as a few other features.

Will post an update as this project continues.

Thanks for the link! I called Verizon, (but the wait times are too long at the moment) to inquire what it'll take to purchase a 3G SIM card and a data plan. However, this looks like the ticket for us RVer's "without, or find ourselves in areas that don't have access to a land line".

BTW, has anyone purchased this unit? If you have, how do you like it?

Google "remote temperature sensor" and you will find dozens of answers to your question. Remote temp. monitoring is becoming very common in homes.

All you need is a smart phone and the appropriate transmitter in your RV.

Ummm just answered this for someone on Facebook? Three things needed,
1) Control Products Intermediate Freeze Alarm @ Amazon for 105.00
2) Cobra PhoneLynx BT-215 Bluetooth Device @ Amazon for 35.50
and finally you need a spare Cell phone and of course Cell phone coverage for it all to work. If you search this Forum you will find the topic dealing with this....it about 2+ years ago, I think. The system works great, Ive used it for 2 years.

This is the only system mentioned with a fairly recent date on the article.
