Waiting at the Rainbow Bridge

I'm wondering if we should also have a sticky that lets us post obituaries & pics of our dearly departed pets? Maybe a "Rainbow Bridge" sticky? It would be sad and happy. It is very sad when a pet dies. And many of us tell the rest of the group when one of our pets does die. Telling others is one way to grieve. There have been a number of posts lately about dear pets that have died. And the stories are very difficult to read. And yes, our heart tugs with every tale.

A thread that would let us tell of our pet, and post a picture, would be a way to memorialize the RV pets that have travelled to the other side.
Simple ground rules.
1. Posts are limited to individual pet "obituaries" and no personal replies please as they will be deleted without explanation.

2. Pictures exceeding 640 pixels width or 480 pixels in height will be edited to comply within those dimensions.

The Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

I just LOVE that cartoon! I heard one dog lover say she's expecting to be met by a stampede when she reaches the Rainbow Bridge. ๐Ÿ™‚

Alice Springs, our camping Maine Coon cat took her last trip today, one she won't return from. We got her when she was about 6 months old,and took her camping to Florida the next day.Over the years she traveled many miles with us. My husband would love to walk her on a leash around the campground and oh they got a lot of attention, you don't see that often. I told him he did it for himself instead of for her as he liked the attention from the ladies who missed their cats left at home. We would have people come to our rv,knock on the door and ask to see her if she wasn't in her large outside crate. My husband passed away July 30,2012 from brain cancer,I lost her today to a large bone tumor on her right hind leg and hip. If they allow cats in heaven I know it was a joyful reunion between her and her daddy. RIP in Alice, you were the best, sweetest cat we ever had.

Oh, I'm so sorry for both your losses but it's beautiful to think of Alice in her daddy's arms again. Our daughter also lost a beautiful purebred Maine coon named Willow to the same cancer in the same location, which had also been the injection site for all her past vaccines. Very sad, Maines are such big teddy bears.

So sorry for you loss of Alice. Maine Coons are often unique characters, and she sounds like she qualified!

Thanks, yes she did! The yapping dogs at the campground would run up to her and she would give them one of those "what is your problem" looks and keep walking. She was 8 so expected to have her longer, their average life is usually 15 years.

Dianne, I'm so sorry to hear about losing not only your beloved Alice, but your wonderful husband. Although they left you almost a year and a half apart, I know the pain is still there. What a wonderful life you had though to have had them both and the stories you can share! Bless you.

So sorry to hear about Alice. It is difficult to lose a spouse and a beloved cat. My heart goes out to you.

I'm so sorry about your Hailey! She left you way too early. The three most important words to her were Ball, Camp, and You! May peace be with you in this difficult time.

You couldn't spell two words in front of Hailey with out her knowing what we were talking about B-A-L-L and C-A-M-P. I'll miss her forever.

Judy - thank you. Your words are very comforting. The days are getting easier without her but we do miss her. I think of her confusion and the amount of weight she lost and know we did the right thing however hard it was for us. Maggie and Mica stick by my side somehow knowing that Missy is no longer there.

Renee, your Missy was exactly the age of our Poquita who crossed the bridge (with a little help) almost a year ago. I remember that confusion and vocalization and almost Alzheimer's look in her eyes. You absolutely did the right thing by not letting it go on any longer. And your DH! What a guy! To stop the car and run to rescue that little girl all those years ago? He's my hero and I'm sure, yours, too. Clearly Missy was meant to be your dog. I'm so sorry for your loss but I am sure that, already, you smile more than you tear up when you think of her. They really are little angels in fur coats. My heartfelt sympathies go out to you,

I am so happy for you to have found a new traveling companion. Hannah is there with you along the way. I wanted to share this article from Susan Stolz with you. It will bring you comfort, as it did me.

I didnt mean that your baby isn't In heaven. People say they are in a better place, but I think their place should be at our sides healthy. I'm a firm Christian, but I don't know the answers to all the questions we all ask. Only our dear Lord knows, and right now He isn't giving me the answers.

I understand completely. We don't have the answers but I felt the article was very comforting.
