95 Norcold Reefer Gas Problem

We just acquired a 1995 Jayco fiver mainly for the deer lease. The reefer works great on electric, ice cold, but not on gas. It is a norcold 6 cubic foot model. If the reefer is off, as soon as you turn the switch to gas, the check light comes on for an instant, then you hear a click and it goes out. The reefer light stays on like it should be working, but it does not cool down. There is a nice small blue flame in the flue like there should be. We need it to work on gas so we can leave it set up in place with solar power to keep the batteries charged. Any ideas?

If the flame stays on continually which is how I understand your OP then there are several things I would look at. 1, How long have you waited for the temp to drop in the reefer section? Mine needs 12 to 24 hrs in warm to hot weather. 2, Check to see if there is any rust that has fallen down from the flue blocking the burner tube slots. Also fine rust particles can build up inside the tube itself blocking the flow which needs to be cleaned out. 3, While you have the tube out clean the orifice it may be dirty. 4, Check to see if propane has enough pressure for a good flame. 5, Check to see if the slots on the tube itself are rusted out which would cause a smaller flame.
