A different flashlight question

i am looking for a led light for the camper. I had a perfect one and dropped it on the concrete and it lost its mind. :S

I want one with 3 C bateries and a sliding focus capability.

here is the kicker. i want one that when you push the button it goes from what you had it set on (hi, low, etc) to off. I do not want to cycle through all the modes.

On the one I liked you could cycle the modes quickly to get to the one you wanted. When finished you could push the button and it went off.

i got the last one as a pair and gave one to the daughter from Costco. They stpped stocking that gen.

thanx

Streamlight Stinger LED HL - best little flashlight I have ever owned. Not cheap but also never have to buy batteries. Serious light output. Used by many in law enforcement.

I also have a streamlight... in a pinch it will serve as a billy club also. :C

Lots of cops carry them.

We have a pair of Duracell LED flashlights that use 3 'C' cells and work exactly as you described. They can be shut off from any mode without stepping through the other modes simply by holding in the button for a few seconds.

I wanna CREE 5-watt that uses 3-D cells. I am so tired of manually recharging my 7.2 volt NiMH 190 LED floodlight. Love to find 15 amp hours of 7.2 lithium at an affordable price.

I use this one, which can user CR123 or 18650 rechargeable cell:

There are some dangers with extracting the 18650 Lithium cells from an old laptop battery pack. You cannot just treat lithium cells like you do any other battery type.

Of any failed 6 or 9 cell laptop battery pack there is at least one cell which might be dangerous to recharge and put into use.

Check the voltages on each cell and label them once you separate them from their series parallel interconnects, and be dang careful when separating them and monitor them for heat when charging them individually.

Try and Keep the plastic of the laptop battery casing intact, as they make a great holding case for all the extra cells you will have.

Read this if considering doing so

My extracted cells were only rated at 1900Mah. I have some 3400mAH panasonic cells, and honestly, I grab these first as their run times are significantly longer. The extracted cells are used when the task does not require full brightness of my light for as long.

That is the color of the outside housing, a light yellow, or gold color, not the LED's, which are cool white in emitter color. The trim is silver color, not the body.

I bought one of these a while back, complete kit, and I can assure you, the lighting color is cool white, probably 5000 to 5400K temperature.

Same light in kit form

I do not disagree, but that is out of my league. I did not realize the spectrum of the led lights out there.

Harvey, What do you use to charge the battery for that one.

If simple enough, I am gonna try it.

Mex, made very sure you have a good charger that terminates promptly at 4.2V. But you probably knew that.

I'm a flashaholic, but I really don't know any C cell lights. The better quality flashlights use other types of cells. I like the Nitecore EA41; 5 light levels from 1 lumen to 1020 lumens, on 4 AA cells; on-off switch plus separate mode switch lets you decide whether to scroll through levels or just turn on-off.
