Air Ride Height Valves

Does anyone have any experience of servicing your air ride system, what is the difference in the actual ride height valves....i.e...does some of them have more adjustment capability. The reason I ask is when I purchased a used 2002 Monaco Diplomat back in 2005, one of the ride height valves was replaced at that time, but the valve doesn't match the original. It has worked O.K. until you dump the air, but has failed to reopen to reinflate the air bag at various times(arm has to be moved). Do these things have a plunger inside it that sticks? Thanks for your insite.

I don't really know what the exact part no. is since the old one was replaced by a dealer who is no longer in business. I really don't know who sells Monaco in my area. The Monaco parts folks aren't sure what was used on the older coaches. I have run into this before when trying to get parts. Hopefully, someone on the Forum will have a Part No. that can be crossed if not available. As you may know, Monaco has now changed hands twice. So, finding out exact Part No.(s) is going to be a chore. Thanks for your help.

Don't mess with the system yourself- Take it to a dealer for proper service and issues. Or call Monaco with your system questions, and get direct advice. Some of these system are very sensitive in nature.

I wouldn't gamble with not replacing it with anything but the exact replacement.

Strange you should say it is filled with an oily substance. I see mine has a oil type of residue on it. Maybe it is leaking internally.
Do these air ride valves need to be an exact replacement for a particular application, or is most of the air ride valves have pretty much the same construction?

I had one that wouldn't inflate (stuck closed) when it was cold. I could aim a heat gun at it and it would start working. I replaced it and the new one worked fine. I took it apart to see if I could see what went wrong, fix it and have a spare. It is filled with a mineral oil-like fluid, reed looking things. I closed it back up and threw it away.
I called Freightliner, got the part number and bought it online on one of the discount semi truck parts companies.
