Awning install...

I recently got a 19' two axle, 86 Road Ranger TT, after a good overhaul the only thing that this TT is missing is an awning.

I have no idea how to start this project, do I have to somehow locate the inner framework (studs)and secure the brackets to them ?

This TT has an aluminium shell, will the fittings be secure enough without going for the studs or simply fly off at 55 mph ?

Any help would be great.

Thanks

Thanks, that is exactly what I needed as a starting point. My TT already has an awning rail along the entire roof, it is 13'10"

A standard awning will attach at the roof line and floor line, where there should be enough framing to secure. The awning length is measure center of upright arm to center of upright arm. You want to avoid windows, hatches and appliances, if at all possible.
Go to http://www.dometic.com/enus/Americas/USA/Customer-Support/Operation--Installation-Manuals/ and look at an installation manual for an 8500 or Sunchaser.Read and understand it.
