We have an Interstate Battery with a dead cell and needs to be replaced for our travel trailer.

SRM-24 55O CCA 690 MCA

Can't find the Interstate batteries in our area.

Battery One has "Crown" batteries in 750 for $99.95

Are these good batteries or should I search for another brand?

Thank you!

I would be sorely tempted to go to Wal-Mart and purchase an engine starting battery that fits. Can't argue with the price or that amazing guarantee. A 1% antimony battery does not drink water anything like a high antimony battery.

Oh No, No, NO. must be true deep cycle, can't be marine, better go with two 6 volters or 6 two volters. ๐Ÿ™‚

In your case the Crown 24 will be fine. Don't have to buy a bigger battery box either.

at 730 you are talking about cold cranking amps or somesuch, not amp hours which is meaningful.

Thanks for the help.

The 27 is bigger and has more capacity than the 24, so make sure you have the room. If like you say, you always have hookups, it's not a big deal and you can use just about anything. I run two Interstate 24's BTW as we dry camp a lot and they work fine. Only reason I went with Interstate is the trailer came with one and I wanted a matched pair. As noted above, Interstate does not make batteries, just slaps their name on them. They seem to be OK. If and when I replace these, I'll probably go with Costco.

Crown makes the best batteries around. Also Trojans are rated about the same. Most RVrs that spend a lot of time on the road will use either 2 6 volt crown or Trojan T105 batteries. They hold up and last

The smaller group 24 is fine for always plugged in.
If WalMart is close that is where I would go. Look for 'deep cycle trolling' over 'deep cycle starting'. But it is not critical.

yep, walmart probably will be the best closest source. but I would kick it up to a 27 assuming little $ difference.

Thanks for the help.

I have a WFCO ULTRA III Distribution Center Model WF-8955PEC

We do not boondock and use full-hookups. By going up in size you mean Group 27? I know nothing about batteries.

Only other choice besides Crown is Wal-Mart or Sear's Die Hard, nothing here in Cumberland.

Hi,

I'd bump up on the size as much as you can. Look for a trolling or even better a deep cycle battery.

What sort of converter is being used to maintain the battery bank?

Crown makes or at least made (in my era) very good batteries. Better than the Johnson Controls batteries that Interstate relabels and hypes. Interstate Battery manufactures NOTHING. They buy products and stick their own labels on them.

I would recommend Costco but it looks like a 50 mile drive.
