anyone got any ideas

2001 travelaire super slide, that doesn't slide (out ) so easy...goes a short distance then slows almost to a stop...then there is sort of a bump....may completely stop/ or may pick up back to where it should be....ideas?

You might want to check clearances both at the bottom of the slideout and at top. Our slideout was contacting one of the overhead light lens. I discovered that the ceiling panel had sagged just enough for the light to rub on the inside top of the slide. It would slow down and then make a bump when the light let go. The bump actually sounded like it was coming from under the slide so it took me awhile to find the ceiling issue.

Another time a piece of siding had come loose and was rubbing against one of the slideout supports, it would make a popping noise.

The big slide on our 2003 has been getting hard to come in the last few years and I did all the lubrication things but still no luck.

This year I got at the electric side of things and worked through the whole thing eliminating suspects. Thank goodness the motor was ok! Those cost about $550. Anyway it was two things.

-the slide out rocker switch was "tired" and a new switch made a big difference. I guess the contacts inside the old switch were getting poor.

- the input to the slide out switch has neg and pos from the battery but the neg side was via the frame. The frame contact point was corroded, so I cleaned that all up and got good contact there again.

Now the slide goes in and out like when the trailer was new. Of course it is still lubricated underneath in the gears (dry spray lube ) too, but not sure it needed that.
