Dicor sealant question

I purchased 4 gallons of the Dicor roof sealer and two quarts of the activator prewash. When I put the first coat of sealant on, it said 125 sqaure feet coverage per gallon. I have a 8 X 32 foot roof which is 256 Square feet so I would suspect that two gallons per coat would be tight. I finished the 1st coat with a little over a gallon. I thought I was putting it on thick but apparently not. I put the second coat on when the first was dry to the touch as per instructions. I put it on real thick and only used a gallon and a half. Is it possible to put a third coat on at a later date as I still have a gallon and a half left.

The 125 sq. ft. per gallon does not take into consideration the vents, skylights, air conditioners, etc. that won’t be coated. The sq. footage is an estimate and is usually more than enough. We want the customer to have more than enough to finish the job – not be in the middle of the job and discover there isn’t enough to finish.

Our instructions say the job must be done in the same day. In some circumstances (weather & humidity), it may be necessary to finish the second coat the next day. It is very important that at least the first coat be applied within 5 hours of washing the Activator/Cleaner off. There is no real benefit to doing a third coat. Touch up is possible later but doing a large section or re-coating the entire roof should involve using the Activator/Cleaner again and starting new.

I hope this answers your question! Feel free to call Dicor at 574-264-2699 if you need further assistance!

Safe and happy travels!

I do just that. The original primer then two coats of finish.
After that I touch up with the leftover finish material.
No problems. It sticks to it's self In my case. I use it around
vents, ac, front and rear caps etc. Even used it on the
awning part that is exposed.Since it flexes it works.

When you're ready to apply the third coat, do a 2' x 2' area. Leave it dry and make sure it sticks and does not peel.
If there are no problems, apply the third coat.

As long as the roof is very clean I don't see an issue. I did mine two years ago the same way. I reapplied one coat two months ago after washing the roof and getting what stains I could off. Applied one coat more and it is looking great after two months.
