Electric step

Hello,

My electric step will not stay out in the "off" position. It goes in and out as the door opens and closes. But the step only stays in instead of out when the switch is off

The step comes in. Then when I open the door it stays in.

open the door so the step is out. turn the switch OFF. close the door. what happens?
