Extended Warranties

Been looking at extended warranties for the new tt we just bought. The dealership sells them from American Guardian Warren Service.

Any have this company before or know some who did?

Only the manufacturer can "warrant" a product, anything else is an insurance contract with lots of loopholes. Those loopholes favor the insurance company.

Keep in mind they will really push these contracts since the dealer gets about 50 percent of the purchase price. That money is pure profit to the dealer.

Extended warranties are a huge profit center for dealers. I would pass if I were you.

Most things that people have to fix, happen in the first year or are discovered immediately after the purchase. It is already covered by 1 year dealer/factory.

Many of these things are easier to fix yourself than taking trailer back to dealer, leaving it there for weeks and bringing it back. Moreover, there are things that you SHOULD fix yourself because it boils down to replacing OEM cr-ap with proper parts.

After a few seasons things begin to break. Again, some of this can be fixed by owner. Read fine print, there is a good chance that it falls into "tear and wear" not covered by any warranty.

The dealer makes more money on the sale of that "warranty" than they do on the sale of the trailer.

Your TT is new...it has warranties on it now for the trailer and for each individual major component (frig. water heater, air conditioner, etc.).

If you are going to buy an extended warranty (which is a bad idea) wait unitl the existing overages lapse.

and....read ALL the page after page of fine print.... you will see lots of "not covered" language and very strict RULES of stuff that is covered.

In the search block type in Extended Warranties.
When you finish reading the posts do a second search and type in Extended Warranty. Read the posts and decide if you want to buy an insurance policy (extended warranty) for your rig.

Some like them, others think they are a waste of money. Before you decide, ask for a cooy of the policy and see what all is excluded.

X2 there just not worth the cost take the fee bank it add $25.bucks a month, some thing comes up fix it yourself ,if its still under warrenty? call a mobil tech ,there faster know more than most rv jockies, and they come to you.

Put $75-$100 a month into an account it is hard to get to. You have plenty of factory warranty for the first couple of years and most things that break you can fix. You must be handy with tools or a check book and often both but having a repair fund will take the misery out of having to replace a bad tv, microwave etc.
