furnace leak

hoping someone could help me out here. so I basically live in my rv up in alberta Canada, -25c usually in the winter...just as of late when my furnace kicks in I get a strong exhaust smell inside the unit and it seems the exhaust isn't blowing out with much force anymore. any ideas as to why this is happening??? after a min or 2 the leak seems to stop and all is fine.

Sounds like two problems
1: Not blowing out so much.. can indicate a bird or insect nest in the path of the heat/exhaust flow. BUT..

2: Strong smell inside: Heat excchanger is damaged and needs to be replaced.. NOTE this will also fix #1.

You say hole in the piping, if that is part of the heat exchanger then DO NOT try to weld it, it must be replaced.

And check that u have a functioning carbon monoxide detector

HEY THX ALL, took it all apart and theres a hole in the piping thats where the leak is from..gonna take it to a welder and see if its fixable, thx for all the replys

Dirt Dabbers and wasps often build in the outside vent in warm season when furnace is not used. Over time it accumulates and restricts the venting when in use.

First check you CO detector is working and has fresh batteries.

Furnace probably needs to come out for disassembly and inspection. My guess you have some type of animal or nest in or on the firebox, cracked fire box or misaligned or faulty exhaust port.
Restricted vent may also cause overheating of the fire box.

x2 this is a killer ,call a mobil tech if your not sure of working on it. or maybe its time to be replaced?

You smelling exhaust you need to stop using it now.

Sounds to me like its rusted thru the heat exchanger.
Need to have it pulled out and throughly inspected.

Can't help you with your specific problem but I sure wouldn't be using the furnace AT ALL if there was any hint at all that it could be leaking killer CO into the trailer, regardless of how cold it may be outside.
