Generator comparison

I am looking at the 2000W Champion inverter/generator. It is cheaper than the Honda or Yamaha. Curious if it is good enough? I understand no A.C.. My cougar is 30 amp hook up. With adapter will it run my PD converter?....Hey moderator, we need forum to compare common products without violating the buy and sell policy.

When comparing inverter generators, one thing to look at is that not all of them are parallel capable.. That means pairing two of them for twice the power. That will run anything you want in a 30 amp TT. It is something that may not seem important today,,, as just getting some power will seem like a luxury... But down the road you may want more.

The Champions you are looking at can be twined. The Generacs,,, I don't think so. All of the Hondas can be. Some of the Yamahas can be.

The Generacs can be paired

There isn't much need to buy 2000W generator and pair it with already existing 2000W, if A/C will not be used.

The biggest load (after the A/C) is microwave ~1200-1500W. As long as they don't try running it at the same time with a 1000W coffee maker, they are OK. Some coffee makers can draw close to 2000W.

All other loads, be it 120V or 12V, are negligible in comparison, you can run them off the pair of batteries with inverter.

True enough. I just feel that people should be informed in case they decide later that they need more power.
Don't buy an albatross. Wants and needs change over time.

Quality, reliablity and price, it is hard to beat the Champion 2000. I own two and could not be happier with the excellent performance over the years.

What do you intend to run with it? If it's only the battery charger in the PD converter, how many amps are used to charge the batteries? Don't know which OD converter you have. If the charge current is 30 Amps, that's just around 360 watts. A much smaller generator would be fine for that.

What we need is a good 101 or FAQ. Education, in other words.

Any generator will run any converter. Will your PD run your 12V loads, or will your generator run your 120V loads, is a different matter.

2000W is normally enough for things other than A/C though.

You might also look at the Generac iQ2000,less money than the Honda or Yamaha Quietier and will run the same things,PD included,no problem on a 30 amp RV,microwave,TV etc NO A/C.
