Generator starts but stalls - SOLVED

My Generac on the 1999 National Tropical would start and run for about five minutes before shutting down. It would then start right back up, run for five minutes, and shutdown.

Replaced the fuel filter ($5.00), did not fix it.

Replaced the fuel pump ($80.00), did not fix it.

Disconnected the wires to the low oil sensor, that fixed it!

Replaced the low oil sensor ($22.00), problem solved.

My advice for anyone in my shoes would be to disconnect the low oil sensor (make sure you have oil first 🙂 and see if that fixes the problem. Would have saved me $82.00. Of course a 17 year old MH probably needed a new fuel filter and pump anyway. 😉

The fuel filter and pump were definitely not a waste of money.
Did you keep the old pump for a spare?
