Interstate Battery Date Code

I have Interstate U2300's.

The code stamped into the casing near the positive terminal is 1A335N. It does not match up with what I found on Interstate's website.

Can anyone decipher this code?

Thanks

Paul

Thank you for the responses. I will check them with a hydrometer.

I agree that it is getting close to the time to replace them. I was hoping to get 5 years out of them when I purchased them.

These are U2300's, not U2200's, but that should not make a difference as to the date code. There are no stickers on the batteries.

Trojan 105's this time.

Again, thanks for the responses.

They're on borrowed time after 4 years anyway.

AFAIK, Interstate no longer sells the U-series batteries make by US Battery, but switched over to Mexican- built batteries of a better design (they say) in 2010ish and call them, eg, GC2-XHD instead of U-2200 at 232AH.

So that makes it seem the 1A is indeed Jan '01, which is ridiculous--you would hope!

On the battery there should also be a sticker with the last charge date on it and when the next recharge must happen. With any luck you should get the sticker saying within a month of when it was built on the side stamped date. You also get a punched hole date for when you bought it, which has to do with the warranty at the dealer's.

In any case, IMO just poke an hydrometer in them and see what it says. My GC2 XHDs were at 1.300 SG when new, and I can still get them there with a proper re-charge. If you can get yours anywhere above 1.280 SG say, in all cells, I would not worry about whatever weird special order things went on back then.

The stopped by place I purchased them this morning. They said I purchased them in January 2009. They were a special order.

Is it possible that they were given and gave me 2001 batteries? Or are we misreading the date code?

I think I purchased them around 2009 or 10. I will for the slip.
