LED SMD 5050 Bulbs

We currently have 12SMD 5050 Cool White Led bulbs In 2 scone type lights in the rear of our 5er above our reclining chairs. These Led bulbs in theses scones do not allow for enough light for reading while sitting in these chairs. ( Some of this is due to the positioning of the fixtures on the rear wall of our unit). Will changing these LED bulbs to 48SMD Cool White LED bulbs increase the light enough for reading?. The 48 SMD bulbs supposedly have approximately 450 lumens. The LED bulbs are T10 Festoon Panel type.
What are your thoughts on this change? Will it help with enough light for reading?
Thanks for your comments,

Just got notice from a Chinese LED manufacturer that new generation 195 lumens per watt SMD chips are arriving on the marketplace. These are ISO 9001 grade so it isn't hyperbole. The efficiency means less heat generated. Something tells me these chips aren't going to be cheap - at least not at first. 1950 lumens per 10 watts is nothing to sneeze at.

5050 SMDs are so 2012 maaaaaannnnnn,

Get with the times you dinosaur!!!

How bright any LED chipset is depends on how hard it is driven.

I went through a bunch of LEDs seeking more brightness, and most of those were the 5050s and man did they vary in brightness, independent of the actual number of 5050s they smushed together.

I have been more impressed with more recent offerings of 5730 chipsets.

But honestly, its been a while since I dabbled with new offerings.

And I certainly do not believe lumen or wattage claims.

I'm sure glad that back in my early days of researching for LED REPLACEMENT lights I only had a couple of sources...

They were only available from EBAY CHINA in leds placed on board panels with adapter cords for the various automotive type DC bulbs sockets...

I ended up with this 36-1210 SMD LED Light board, Warm White DC12V which cost $4.99 or ten each for $45 from ebay china...

The WARM WHITE was the best for me to use in the ceiling lamp fixtures... Some folks would add special lens to spread out the light better... Also the boards without the built-in REGULATOR CHIPS on the boards were best to purchase so that the generator RFI signals would not interfere with your HDTV TV signals and other radio electronics like the WX Radios, Ham Radios, etc...

COOL WHITE LEDs are probably best to use for reading.

Perhaps you can get some demos at places like OFFICE DEPOT before buying a bunch of your new LED units...

Sometimes buying just ONE saves in the end...
