LP Level Indicators not working

My propane level indicator lights on the inside main control panel does not work. Reads "E" all the time. Tank Gauge reads full. Battery, Water, Black, Grey indicators are working.

What is the theory behind the LP Sensor?
How do you do you trouble shoot?

I am sure it is a generic indicator system since I had the same thing on my Thor Chateau except it worked.

Thanks, Al

Make sure sending unit is attached to the tank. On mine, the plastic clips that held it on broke, probably due to age, so I cable tied it in place.

Are there any wires connected to the Tank Sending unit? Some Jayco motorhomes, the inside monitor has a LP read out, but Jayco does NOT install the wiring or the wired resistor tank sending unit on the LP tank. Just the standard resistor read only unit. Doug

It’s just like a fuel,gauge- something like a 90 ohm variable resistor, so there is either a short in the wire, an open in the wire or the element is bad. You can test the wire by disconnecting at the tank gauge and shorting it to ground, something should change if the wire is good.
