Magnum Remote & Trimetric RV 2025 install

In the process of installing a MS2012 inverter with ME ARC50 remote & Trimetric RV2025 monitor in my Cougar TT. I have a question about running the wires for the remote and monitor.

Inverter is in the front of the trailer near the batteries and I'll be running the 120 volt wiring to the back of the trailer where the power distribution panel is located. I also want to place the remote and monitor in the back of the trailer where the trailer control panel is located.

Can I run the communication cable for the remote and monitor in the same conduit as the 120 wiring or do I need to run them in a separate conduit?

While you're at it put in a pull wire in those conduit runs
for future who knows what.

The ME-RC50 and ME-ARC50 is shipped with 50ft 2 twisted pair and the jacket is round, tan colored and says Magnum Energy with an 80-xxxx part number. Not sure where a flat silver satin cable would come from other than the Battery Temp Sensor.

The Magnum cable is actually 2 twisted pairs and the protocol is RS485 so it shouldn't be a problem to run the two cables in one conduit.

Actually lemme backup on that (just looked).. UTP is what I did on my solar. The stock Magnum control is flat telco wire into an RJ-11.

So that's REALLY a No-no

Yeah that flat line "silver satin" stinks for noise rejection. It couples to about everything.

I'll have the room and will be able to run 2 conduit lines to the back. I'll run the 120 in 1 and the 2 data lines in the other.

Again thanks for the great information. The unselfish wealth of information offered helps us make the educated decisions.

You still don't want to route data and control into the same conduit as any primary AC. That's poor engineering practice and probably against residential and commercial code.
It certainly isn't best practice but NEC w/conduit has more to do with space and number of conductors than separation of signal and energy. I mention it as I have done it successfully. The situation dictated a single conduit.

It might be easier and more cost effective to replace the telco and monitor wire with Cat6 so that you can place all in the same conduit.

No, you will get minimal cross talk between the data lines, especially at these low data rates.

Thanks for the info folks, sounds like it would be smarter to use 2 runs, keeping the 120 volt and data lines separate.

Would it be an issue to run the data lines together?

UTP with differential signaling will probably stand up to 20' of power cable in conduit, though it is not ideal (i would prefer more twists per inch than Cat 6).

No differential signaling compensation in the circuitry? Houston, we have a problem.

Good ol' T568 over UTP. Protocol is probably proprietary. A cycling AC might shake it pretty good.
