MVP Awards

A few years back, I joined Woodalls Open Road Forum. I'd just bought a travel trailer new, and quickly came to the conclusion that I had a lot to learn.

Which lead me to the Tech section here. I've posted more than my fair share of newbie questions in the beginning, and received many different answers from many different POV's, thoughts, from various locations around North America, from many different posters with different experiences.

So, what I am asking is this: I'd like to put together a Who's who, or MVP list of valuable contributors together, and their area of expertise.

Folks are free to post the contributors name, and what technical problems they helped you solve.

I'll start with Wizard the moderator... he pointed me in the right direction for an AGM battery that has made my camping experiences since getting it wonderful... I am no longer burning acid holes in Levi 501's and T-shirts, playing with fancy chicken baster hydrometers.

Stoned? Oh man! Far Out! Munchies! My daughter throws a hissy fit if she even finds a single Heineken in my refrigerator "POPPEEEEEEEEEE!!!"

Strong attaboy for Westend too.

Landyacht is in a class by "hisseff" the consummate "Shake The Jar And See If They Fight, Dewey" He actually does stuff which is a biggie in my book.

But there are so many many posts and comments here that I've followed up on. Lots of knowledge and lots of experience from a lot of people!

No... moderators do not condone getting stoned here... Unless you are RVing in Iraq, or other Arab countries under Sharia Law. Now if you want to RV in Colorado and medicate, perhaps then it's permissible to pass the peace pipe.

smkettner, scvjeff for the bat wing antenna study and db measurements on a scope to back it up.

For white noise and random shock... RJfishing is the BEST!

All the monitors. They delete the junk posts, spammers and advertisements.
I think they do a great job!

Some Assembly required, some modifications might be necessary to customize {Meanwell} to your exact needs. Porsche performance, at VW price points.

Unfinished Porsche with missing parts that require certain skills to install.

First, you have to attach a cable - this is an easy part.
The biggest problem - VERY user-unfriendly voltage adjustment knob. There is no "knob". You have to use a small screwdriver, and be careful not to rip this part off the circuit board. There is no voltmeter, so you have to check the voltage with multimeter as you adjust it.

This is not a manual "stick". This is a manual without a stick, so you have to bring you own, shove it in and carefully manipulate the gears to your satisfaction. It works, yes.

Meester Weezard is perhaps one in a million. The perfect moderator selected for a forum. Try as I might I can recall none of his answers as being flawed. Two ears and a tail!

For the Boondocker folks that dry camp constantly... and need quick and dirty MANUAL bulk charging done to their batteries, the Power Supply units that go by the names of MegaWatt and Meanwell, as suggested by Mexicowanderer, deserves mention.

Value of bang per buck of this suggestion, is the best out there. Some Assembly required, some modifications might be necessary to customize to your exact needs. Porsche performance, at VW price points. But understand... if you can't drive a stick shift, and need an automatic, this will not work for you. Automatic is not an option. Emphasis is on MANUAL. The air gap between your ears will need to be 50% of the manufacturers recommended settings. Must use gray matter upstairs.

Any of the major contributors on the battery charging/care 'threads' (you know who they are) that provide real information on experiences with battery maintenance.
