Observation Camera Power

I tried to find out where the pre-wired power for my trailer comes from by searching on the interweb. Lots of different answers, even with the same trailer manufacturer. So I pulled off the mounting bracket and looked. No clues there. The documentation with the camera said that for Open Range, it should be activated by power from the reverse light pin, the center one on a 7 blade connector. Didn't like that. So I popped off the battery cover and started jumping the appropriate pins on the connector. Turns out that mine is activated by the running lights. I can live with that. Others have said that theirs is powered all the time, or only on reverse. I wonder how many folks buy the more expensive observations camera only to find out that they only get power on reverse. My connection is inside the aluminum frame, so fishing for a marker light wire would not work. It would have to be an external connection, if I was hooked up to reverse only.

Mine is powered by the tail/marker light circuit. My wires were reversed though so the camera was not getting power. Easy fix though.

Much of the documentation for the Furrion model was inaccurate. It said mine was wired to reverse too.
