Renogy MT-5 Solar Monitor Issues

Hey - I've installed a Renogy MPPT40. The unit seems to be functioning okay (no error lights on the charger). I've added a MT-5 tracer as well for additional control and information about my system. However, when I connect the MT-5 to the charger all it does is flash and blink. Pushing the buttons doesn't change anything.

Does all this flashing and whatnot indicate my monitor is messed up? Is my charger messed up? Am I messed up?

Here is a video of all the exciting action:

THANKS!!!!

All that blinking is driving the birds crazy! I'd try and get someone from Renogy to see the video. To me is seems like a communications problem.

I have the same unit but haven't seen that problem. From seeing the video, I have an idea it just might be the cable to the monitor. It seems like there isn't good communication between the controller and the display. Is that the cable that came with the Renogy? It's not a standard telephone type of cable, although it looks the same. If you unplug the cable from the controller, does the controller display return to normal? If so, it's either the cable or the display unit that is bad.

I've had two MT-5's go bad, not exactly like your problem but similar. Just call Renogy for a replacement they're easy to deal with.
