You might also check to see if the manufacturer installed a relay to activate the running lights. The headlight switch was originally designed to run headlights, side markers and taillights on the vehicle, not 8-12 more running lights.
Too much amperage through the light switch was a common problem for RV's for many years until they started using relays.
