Shade Repair

I need to restring one of my day/night shades. I see how it is done. My question is has anyone had success with other type of cord or material. The guy who owned my rig before me did a couple with wire. It's not the prettiest job but it works. I was thinking of heavy fishing line but would like other ideas.

Thanks as always

I found the fishing line best. 70 pound test braided Dacron is very flexible, and is slipperier than the original cord. And it doesn't fray. Ten bucks buys you enough for 50 repairs or so!

You can find cord by calling local blinds repair company.

Here is the Link to the company that supplies kits to restring your shades.

I repaired one of mine and the process is fairly easy.

I haven't used it myself, but some people on here swear by high-test fishing line. I've got a couple to do before the season starts so I may give it a try even though I have left over string from previous repairs.

When the one over my bed broke I just tied the cord back together. That was 6 years ago. After you restring or retie you can adjust the tension which will help in how smoothly the shades work.
