There are basically two types of Geothermal units based on where you live

One is basically the same as a heat pump only the outdoor coils are buried in dirt which provides vastly better cool/heating

The other type pumps cool water into the ground and sucks hot water back up.

I suspect. it has to do with that function, but alas, just whast it has to do without the service manual I'd have to leave to professionals.
Home was where I park it. but alas the.

I'm not offended by the question in this forum. As already pointed out, it's clearly labeled as non-rv content, and there just might be people in the forum that have the requested technical knowledge. Agreed, if abused, non-rv content could ruin the forum. There is a lot of non-rv content in the Technology Corner forum and I haven't heard that it causes any problems.

Technology Corner is expressly for internet and technology questions. It just seems to me that an HVAC question--especially geothermal--is not appropriate on a forum that is explicitly for RV related questions. And I agree that unrelated content could ruin the forum, which is why I question having it here. It's not offensive, it just doesn't belong.
Apparently you haven't read the "Around The Campfire" section, which expressly states "for general non-rv related issues". Only problem I see is it's in the wrong section (which isn't unusual either). But what I really don't understand, is why did you bother to even read the post, if by the title it clearly wasn't "your cup of tea".

Except if posted in 'Around the Campfire' it gets moved or deleted :S

I just don't understand ALL the 'panties in a wad' over this/that forum section.
Besides....MODS can handled it. That's what they get the big $$ for :B
Is it time for your medication or mine?

By the title pretty obvious not RV so do not read if it offends you. I was interested as I installed my own geo system and my educated guess it's for putting water into the loop. If it's not broken.... Google probably knows.
This post is my opinion (free advice). It is not intended to influence anyone's judgment nor do I advocate anyone do what I propose.

So a phone call for info should not cost anything.....

There are NUMEROUS Geothermal Systems each with there own 'nomenclature'

Like RV Systems..........BRAND/MODEL
Do you have the manual for your system?

Or just call the 'Tech' and ask.
Is it time for your medication or mine?

And yes a tech was out her a while back. My wallet was $274 skinnier when he left. I coulda woulda shoulda.

I dunno'. Answering a question from a customer that I have just billed for $274 wouldn't break my day. In fact, as a customer service exercise, I would want to make it as enjoyable as possible for the homeowner. Give them a call.

Or, post the make, model, and year of your appliance and we can help you track the needed info about the "water regulator" port. One thing I do know is that a Geo system isn't charged like a pressure tank.

You will need a service or operating manual to muck about with a geothermal heating system. Keeping it in the hands of a service technician may be a better option.

The port may be establish full loop fluid, an auxiliary port for a water heater, or for another intrinsic function.

Without knowing where the port is in relation to the flow and what appliance you have, no one should just guess at this.

I'd suggest you call the service that was just there. They did leave a tag or label w/phone number, no?
