The Finest Meter Test Leads I Have Ever Used

OLDAKER TEST LEADS. These things make Fluke and other test leads look like they were manufactured in Ethiopia. Extra long length. Hardened STAINLESS STEEL tips that are as sharp as a hypodermic needle. 18-gauge tin plated high strand count copper conductors. Unless a person can screw up a bowling ball with a feather duster, these leads will last many many years and make testing pleasurable, even with a Harbor Freight cheap DMM. The pins are universal. I give these leads SIX STARS. The highest rating in my book. They are also available in SILICONE

Take a look at the meter end of the wire, Most multi-meters use banana jack/plug pairs and I think this includes Fluke (But I'd have to visit my local fluke store)

My complaint on most meter probes is this:

You really should meter the park outlet to insure it's properly wired

BUT THE PROBE TIPS ARE NOT LONG ENOUGH TO MAKE ELECTRICAL CONTACT with the outlet.. I do have one meter where I modified the tips, but .. Well, One can never find it when one needs it.
Home was where I park it. but alas the.

after a semi "nicked" it. Still have the radios

Piercing the insulation is one of the worst things you can do when testing. Eventually it will bite you and be all but impossible to find and a difficult repair.

Vehicles manufacturers have gone to great lengths over the years to seal the entire electrical system because of corrosion problems. Even a tiny hole will be the weak point in the insulation for eventual failure.

Clamp meters will check for voltage and current, AC and DC, in wiring without damage. If you do your own repairs they've gotten cheap enough one should be part of your tools.

For many years I use probes with old 78 RPM gramaphone needles. They are hard stainless steel, sharpenable and repairable. Best probes ever.

Good for me ??? Well maybe I can explain it like this, you buy a Snap-On ratchet; couple it to a Snap-On extension, then fit a socket from a $4.99 Chinese socket set. Or serve a Big Mac on Mikasa Antique Dinnerware. Or serve Sevruga Caviar on Mel-mac.

With Fluke or the leads that come with most meters, I have to RUB the contact to death to make a good connection. OK, let's SHARPEN those probes. Oh Damn! Brass. Pierce wire insulation? "Shirley You Jest".

I have a fondness for stuff that works well and reduces errors. And lost time. And the amount of red face anger and embarrassment I feel when trying to use garbage and failing miserably.

Works For Me !!!

Roy B,

SHOWOFF!
I would sell my left elbow for a set of those Hewlett Packard probes. They were made to last. In the mid seventies I had an LED HP voltmeter. I was king of the hill!

Mex - I have used these type of DC CLIP-ON AMMETER PROBEs for many of miles as well. These were used with the HP-428B DC milliammeter...

Great for making very accurate DC AMPS measurements up to 10AMPS DC...

They are good leads but not the best. They do have strength, and are a high quality lead. There is at least on flaw in them, and yes I do use them. The large finger guard on the end makes it impossible to get into tight spaces. They are a good lead though.

Thanks, Mex, have to put those on the shopping list. I've had good luck with the Pomona brand, also.
