As som off you know my MSH3012 inverter won't pas true power so I have to have a bypass switch installed. The electrician her in Australia are not clear on how to do this so can someone please supply a skematic or good explanation on how to do this so that I can have power going from power board and back from inverter or bypassing it without backfeding to inverter. Thanks.
Frank.

Not clear about a few things.
1. The Magnum OUTPUT is 60htz. So, when on Invert your frequency will NOT be 50 htz but 60htz which will cause certain motors and such to run faster
2. Are you adapting a USA built RV to Australian current?
3. Have you tried to find a Magnum with 50htz operation? This would be the best solution
4. If you have a USA built RV, what about operating all the 120/60htz appliances 0n 50htz? Is that OK? Doug

Really expensive and sophisticated inverter to use with the charger and load support features disabled. Hopefully it was low priced.

The transfer switch has two input and one output.

Remove the cable from the MSH3012 output and connect the cable to the new transfer switch output.
Remove the cable from the MSH3012 input and connect this cable to the normally closed input of the new transfer switch.
Get new wire and connect the output from the MSH3012 to the normally open input on the new transfer switch.

You will have no utility power going into the MSH3012 so the inverter will not charge the battery. But I think that was part of the original issue. Get a separate battery charger rated for the local voltage. This charger needs to draw power before the transfer switch or you will have a power loop with the inverter. Or manually plug it in when the inverter is off.

Here is how I wired my ATS with help from diagrams and folks here to get the "best" way for us.

http://forums.goodsamclub.com/index.cfm/fuseaction/thread/tid/29316554/gotomsg/29335313.cfm#29335313

Key features:

1. Inverter can be turned on, but the ATS will switch with priority over to shore power/generator power via the camper's main cord.

2. If shore power/genny is not available, the ATS switches over to Inverter 120v power feed for the camper

3. Additionally, the shore power/genny side of the ATS powers a 120v receptacle I added that the new converter/charger plugs into. So the battery charging and 120v to 12v converter circuits are only powered when plugged into shore power or generator power

My invert does have a "bypass" mode that is supposed to act like ATS, but a separate Automatic Transfer Switch seemed the better choice overall.

Here's my wiring diagram from the link:

It is because in Australia we only have 50hrz so switch won't close.

Frequency (50Hz vs 60Hz) should have nothing to do with the relay pulling in.

Contact the manufacturer.

The Magnum does qualification tests on the shore power input before engaging the transfer switch. The relay is not pulling in by design. At least my theory.

So it thinks there's something wrong with the input power?

Tried talking to tech support? The Magnum are computerized, they may be able to adjust the operating frequency.

I think a single simple transfer switch to your main panel should work. Input A would be shore power, input B would be the Magnums output.

Sounds complicated, what's wrong with the inverters own transfer switch? Isn't it dual 60amp or some such?
