Using NOCO G7200 to desulfate a pair of T-105's

I'm on a camping trip and my buddy who's travelling with us has a NOCO G-7200 charger and said I could borrow it to desulfate my three year old T-105's, total 4 batteries.

According to the manual it takes 4 hours for the procedure for a single 12 volt flooded battery.

I'll do them a pair at a time so I'm thinking I should let it run for 8 hours per pair ????

Just curious if that's the way to go.

To answer some comments these batteries where fully charged before starting, I have been on full hook-ups the last 5 days.

Were you charging the T-105's at the specified voltage of 14.8 V? What was the specific gravity measurement?

Op back.....

Well I finished the first pair of batteries (3hrs) and didn't notice much difference in before/after specific gravity and resting voltage. I failed to monitor the current going in, something I'll check on the second set. Again voltage never went higher than 14.6v.

I did monitor the battery temperature and there was only a 2 degree increase from the second pair which was sitting idle at the time. There was active bubbling but no loss of water.

To answer some comments these batteries where fully charged before starting, I have been on full hook-ups the last 5 days.

Got to get the batteries to full before initiating an attemptedf EQ charge.

I don't think a 7 amp charger can get 232Ah of trojan batteries to 16v.

My previous flooded group 31, after a normal full recharge, would require 6.2 amps to be brought to 16volts, and by the tiem specific gravity had maxed out it was accepting 3.8 to 4.2 amps at 16 volts. So I do not see 7 amps of charger being able to bring 100Ah more capacity to 16v, ever.

I thinks the desulfation 'Pulses', are marketing mumbo jumbo to separate consumers from their money and give them the warm and fuzzies.

If pulse desulfation worked, no Charging source would NOt employ it, and battery longevity would easily be extended. Only failure modes would be from plate shedding if it actually worked.

Fully charge the batteries first. Pulse mode--no one really knows if this works. It may not hurt to pulse charge.

When did you measure?
Need initial voltage and at each hour to determine where it is headed.

Yes you need a full charge cycle completed before equalize. Best to do this when plugged in.

And did you first read the instructions regarding this 16v Boost Mode?

The timing of your posts suggests perhaps not. :@

I suspect that if the batteries are accepting charge current during this process
It won't reach 16v until the end of the cycle

Well I tried running the desulfate mode on one disconnected pair and I'm only reading 14.6 volts at the battery pair so that's not right.

Unless my meter isn't picking up the 16.2 pulses that the NOCO is supplying.

Will call them on Tuesday.

The G7200 Owner's Manual suggests this 16v Boost Mode is an automatic process, in which case I'd just let it run it's course. The manual further states - "The G7200 can be used on battery sizes from 14 to 230Ah @ 12 vdc ... " ... that by definition limits charging to just two 6 volt GC-2's at any given time. In any case, 16 volts is awfully high for the trailer itself so I'd make sure the batteries are disconnected from the trailer before beginning the process.

Do one pair at a time. Read the manual for charge times. Four hours may not be enough.

It has been discussed before, but Trojan recommends higher than "average" charging voltages. The only way you will achieve them is an adjustable charger/power supply.
