Want to replace my Thetford toilet with Dometic 320

I bought my camper a little over a year ago. The Thetford Aqua Magic Style II that came in it is ok, but will randomly leak all the water in the tank and the camper begins to stink. After reading about swapping the seal not being plug and play I think I would prefer to get a Dometic 320 like was in my previous camper.

My flange bolts are 10" from the back wall. There is 1 1/4" space between the back of the toilet and the wall. I see the Dometic calls for 10 1/2" to the back wall. Am I out of luck, or is the space behind my current one enough for the Dometic to fit?

I got the 310 dometic installed today. Works well and the way it rinses the bowl is so much nicer. Had the same one it turns out in my previous rig. Never had an issue with it.

Found a good deal on a 310 with slow close wood seat and sprayer. Should be a nice upgrade and easier to maintain.

Just saw your post. I have silicone based plumbers lube. I can deal with the dometic, I just dont like the thetford seal replacement method.

I have the Dometic 310 and I understand they are trouble prone based on feedback from others. Also, I've had my share of troubles with it also even when it was relatively new. Make sure you don't use petroleum based plumbers grease on the seal or any rubber products because it will react with the rubber and make it swell and destroy it. Use only silicone based plumbers grease.

My 320 flange bolts are 11 1/4" from the wall with 3/4" between the bowls back and wall.

You need to move your flange out 1/2".

If the leak is pretty fast you may need to replace. I know vinegar works for the slow leaks.

Great to hear the 320 will work on 10" bolt locations. I might try the white vinegar thing. Can't get it to hold water at all now. I cleaned it and added plumbers grease today but it still leaks pretty fast. I think I will just order a new Dometic from amazon and get the sprayer option. If this Covid situation ever clears up, I want to be ready.

My seal leaks from time to time (don't they all?), but a good dose of white vinegar usually clears it up.

Yes, in the bowl where you expect to see it when you lift the lid. I have cleaned and used plumbers grease with no luck.

Are you saying you have the Dometic 320?

I have the 310 sorry. the distance from the mounting bolt to the back wall is just under 10".

Water in the tank? I'm not sure what you mean..I don't see a tank on the Thetford. You mean the bowl?
