Converter has nothing to do with you 120V stuff like air conditioning. Converter charges your battery and runs your 12V lights and such.

Maybe, maybe not, they could be operating on the battery.

How is the converter working if there is no ac power ??
I would dare to say the converter is not working, but only because there is no ac power to power it.
Therefore if lites and other dc stuff are working, its working off the battery.

The reason you see the ac wiring stuff going to the converter, is only because its all in the same box.

..and to answer your original question, if your 12v stuff works, lights, etc, your converter is working. Sounds like you just don't have 120v which is better than a blown converter and easier to fix.

is the converter really needed to run 12 volt stuff off your batteries?

OK then you will be checking for voltage coming onto the main breaker(s) and then checking the cord itself.

Have you checked power at the pedestal? Reset the pedestal breaker?

Do you have any type of power management system or surge protection device that could need replacement?

Good idea, check for power at the pedestal first. Might have done damage there.

Start at the pedestal. Reset the CB. It could be thrown and still look good. Do you have a multimeter (120v/12v)? Check power coming out. Trace it to the Surge protector/EMS/ATS, then to the main panel in the rig. Do you have a genny and does power work when on genny?

Nothing works ,ac,microwave, none of the outlets work.ac is wired directly into converter with its own circuit breaker,Have tried everything.

Your 120v side uses circuit breakers not fuses. You must be plugged in for your 120v side to work. As stated shut off all circuit breakers and turn back on, then check any Ground Fault outlets (the ones that have a test and reset button on them).

Your converter converts 120v to 12v dc to power the lights (through fuses) and charge the battery.

Check the breakers, the fuses have nothing to do with the 120vac.

It's possible it's damaged but check the breakers first. If you do need a new converter, it's not a big job.
