That's been my experience with every GM (and Chrysler) vehicle I've ever owned - SQUEAKING in the interior. (cars and trucks in all price ranges.)

I've never had a problem in my Ford vehicles. I'm extremely anal about things like that. (Just ask the missus):

Me: "What's rattling in the door over there?"

Wife: The Scanner

Me: Wrap that in some paper towels or something.

I guess this happens when you are in a vehicle for such extended periods of time. You become very aware of every little noise. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Glad you like the interior! I'm sure in time you'll grow to love the rest of the vehicle. Keep us posted!

@Mickeyfan0805 - 1500!?! Wow. I didn't realize it was that low.

My 2000 Excursion PowerStroke.

How do you like the Excursion? Been looking to get into the TT life and with 5 of us the Excursion with the diesel seems a better choice than maybe a Suburban. What kind of fuel mileage you get towing and not towing? I believe from what people say to try and stay away from the 6.0 and get the 7.3 diesel. Just curious. Thanks

I love it. Aside from the soft factory springs it's an awesome family/tow rig. I'm updating the springs to the stiffer F250 springs, which is a popular mod and will take care of the 'soccer mom' ride quality Ford shot for. I do have an airbag kit in the rear along with an add a leaf from the lift so the rear is set up well for towing.

Look for a 2000-2003 7.3, I can't tell you how many horror stories I've heard regarding the 6.0. Sure many people have had zero issues but I wouldn't want to take that kind of chance. With a few mods the 7.3 can make a ton of power and torque. Mine feels very light on it's feet for an 8K lb truck. I often find myself playing with cars half my weight. ๐Ÿ™‚

The biggest difference besides the diesel option between the X and Suburban is the chassis. The X just a full body bolted to an F250 chassis. Real suspension (although softer for comfort, easily fixed) with a solid front axle. The size may scare you at first but it's a quick adjustment. My wife used it as a daily driver for a while and warmed up to it quickly.
I don't have mpg with our new TT yet but we got 14 mpg towing my 4Runner out to Moab. With me driving I can get around 18 mpg hwy. Another point is, I feel my family is much safer in this than anything else. You won't be dissapointed with an Excursion.

Well I really like how quiet the new Ford is. The Ford seems a little more stable hauling the trailer but, rides with a bit more chop to the ride. The GMC gets better fuel mileage....the Ford is new and should get better with more miles on it. I don't have the power and transmission update done yet so right now I like the Allison better. The interior of the Ford is quiet and rattle free.....the GM has never been squeak or rattle free from day one. I will have to put on a few more miles on the Ford to make a better comparision.

Problem is, they'd have to up the payload with it. Not sure there's much point in a larger engine on an EL Expy if it is still limited to 1,500 pounds of payload.

Yup, though I haven't had a chance to hitch it up yet. It'll be so nice to get more than 8mpg and go more than 160 miles between fill-ups. ๐Ÿ˜„
