I have a 2013 GMC Duramax and the TCM...(transmission control module) has went bad and for a part that is not supposed to go bad why is there a national parts shortage for them. My question is has anyone else has had this problem and what was the final result of this dilemma

I have a 2014 Dodge Ram 1500 V8 CC 4x4 and so far no problems. I am also glad I have two older Rams as standby trucks in good running older just in case. Insurance is cheap. I use one for remote rough terrain fishing trips. All is good in my dodge world.

My 2019 Expedition MAX has been waiting for a rear diff for 6 weeks (they will end up rebuilding the entire rear axle). No loaners available either. If the Wagoneer L was available I wouldnโ€™t be waiting.

How about post the part number. Somebody has it. Check rockauto.com posted above.

And a โ€œpart that is not supposed to go badโ€ is not going to get much priority to manufacture and stock.

A co-worker of mine had his Nissan SUV in for repair which would normally be completed within a week. They needed to order a part to finish. It took over 6-months before the part finally arrived due to supply chain shortages. He didn't have use of his SUV during this period, but got it back in a day after the part was installed.

This supply chain issue is what worries me when traveling. Especially, for vehicles that not all mechanics can work on. The nightmare scenario is breaking down, and having to leave the vehicle for weeks or months before being able to retrieve it. :E

Rockauto shows some in stock.
If going through dealers, everything back ordered with no idea when parts will be available.
