What did you do to your truck today?

I love cruising through the "what did you do to your camper today" thread, I figured I'd add a "what did you do to your truck today".

I'm sure that many of you are like me....and your truck that you use to haul your camper gets a lot of special attention to make sure it's in tip-top shape for your adventures.

I'll start out.....

Today I mounted 2 PIAA 520 Fog lights and 2 PIAA Driving lights to my winch bumper, and aimed them.

This evening, I received a box containing torklift stableload bumpstops. Those will have to wait for another day....we've got a blizzard going on here.

Since I use the fifth wheel Bargman 7pin plug already in my truck bed to plug in the camper, I took off the original plug from the camper's 48" cord and extended it so I can plug in directly and no longer need to use an extension.

My 09 is in the shop. It's been there for a week now. Some &*@#% critters chewed up a bunch of wiring underneath, resulting in a repair bill of $4000.00.
I'm not sure when it will be fixed.

Oh how I hate those tree rats, otherwise known as squirrels. They've gotten two vehicles within a block of me, one of them mine.

Well technically my former vehicle. Got up under the hood on my 2011 Ford diesel and chewed through the plastic line going to the fuel filter on top of the engine. Started the truck and OMG diesel fuel everywhere. What a stink!

But at least you will have AWESOME undercarriage protection from salt now! A friends turbo let loose in his CDT and puked diesel all over and that truck looks brand new underneath and it's going on 10 years old in NY (Land of the Winter Salt). All these expensive SUV's running around NY and none of 'em are capable of driving unless the road is bare LOL:)

EDIT: it's gotten so bad that even the MAILBOXES are rusting away after 5 years... the last damn thing I need to do is worry about MAILBOX maintenance!

Better mileage with lower gears? The tech said I probably would get better mileage going from 373 to 430 since I have 35" tires.

He was right!! Went for a 250 mile drive yesterday, empty. Went from 12 to 14.5 hand calculated. DIC said 14.9. I know 2.5 doesn't sound like much but it really is compared to 12!!! ๐Ÿ™‚

You might consider changing the rear diff oil after a few hundred miles too.

Picked up my truck after being in shop for 2 days replacing u joints and hub bearings... 1855.00 bucks lighter!

Well After having truck alignment and balance checked with lifetime warranty at Firestone the manager called and thinks my front output shaft may have a leak? Truck steering still have a vibration in steering wheel? Not sure where to get a estimate? Firestone manager told me they will not touch it. Oh the lousy steering suspension on these Dodges!!!

In recent weeks we have installed the following in preparation of getting a larger camper. My bank account is as dry as So. California.

1) Firestone Ride rite airbags
2) Torklift Superhitch with 2 foot Supertruss extension
3) Because of # 2, had to upgrade the rear tie down brackets to the souped up ones that would fit the Superhitch * surprise to me..guess I didn't research THAT enough.
4) 4 new Torklift Fastguns and locks (we let the old tie downs go with our old camper)

Then it had to go to the truck hospital for a bad front bearing. Thankfully that was still under warranty!

On the cheery side, we appear ready to go now. (fingers crossed) I even found a little solar powered sock monkey for the dash!!
