$12,000 off MSRP, the 15's must be getting close

Might be a good time to look at the outgoing GM HD line. $12,000 off is the current ad for our local Chevy/GMC dealer.

I checked today, and that $58k truck would cost me more than last month. The base rebate went up $500, but the two $1k incentives are gone.

Yes, last month I was considering a 2014 that would have been $42k with a sticker of $58k. However, I have spent 5 months in the new 2014 half-ton, and can tell the difference in how quiet it is, the audio screen with backup camera, etc. So I decided to wait for a new 2015. When spending this much, you might as well really enjoy it!

Not fair, that dealer is a " wholesaler" :B Well worth the one way air flight!

I've been combing the web for new truck prices lately and have been disappointed with Smith.... also, their website sucks for such a big operation. No way to do an advanced search. You're stuck looking through 250 trucks trying to find the one with the options you want. And then there's the annoying pop-up every 30 seconds of some guy wanting to "chat" with you.

I'm just next door in Oregon and wouldn't mind running over for a new truck.... maybe I'll look again but I was pretty turned off the first time I tried.

The snows of this winter have crippled commerce. Down to produce at east coast grocery stores. These trucks (and cars) have been sitting for long enough now that they need to go. Most dealers are not fully funded on their new inventory, and now they could have twice the floor plan interest. Heck, some dealers now even floor plan their used inventory.

Sure am seeing a lot of new Chevy trucks with paper plates on the street lately.

We did a similar deal - found a 2013 for a very good discount - about $7000 off MSRP ... but once we drove it, didn't like that particular truck and it's handling.

But right beside it was the 2015 Double Cab - and the dealer knocked off just over $4000 from MSRP -- and it had some extras as well, that the 2103 did not have. The price difference jumped, of course, but we figured the 2015 DC 4x4 version will hold it's value better than a 2013 despite the price, and once we fired it up, the ride was extremely nice, very smooth. So, we drove it home.

One thing I mentioned in other posts ... maybe even this one - if you drive a 2014-2015, watch for the 'throttle lag' when you accelerate ... sometimes it hesitates when you push the pedal both from a start and on the highway.

During our search, we drove about five or six trucks (including a Ford) ALL had that throttle lag ... except this last one we bought. One of the reasons we did buy it, along with other factors. But we were told each time it happened earlier - "That's normal."

So, if you all hear from anyone "That's just the way electronic fuel systems function" ... it ain't so. But, it can be usually be "tuned out of it" according to some mechanic buddies of ours. And, we're driving one without the "lag" - a very smooth acceleration ... and was tuned that way right from the factory - we did nothing extra nor did the dealer. The luck of the build ...

I had planned on getting a 2015 HD to replace my '03 D/A. Instead found a '13 equipped close to my target, $9k below MSRP and probably another $2k-$3k in price increases and options. The savings will pay for a lot of diesel fuel and 10 years from now it won't matter which body style, they will both be old.
