19.5" tire recommendations?

We are currently running 4 GM stock steel wheels with 4 Nitto Dura Grapplers rated at 3970# each. We are using just about all their capacity on the rear axle.

They do the job very well- just returned from an 8 day trip to Nova Scotia and PEI. We did a bunch of back roads- some pretty good, some really rough. No problems.

But the tires are looking like they will need replacing by the time we park the EC for this winter.

I am contemplating going to Vision 19.5" wheels. Here is my question for all the folks who are running 19.5" wheel/tire combos-

I am interested in highway tread only- which brand/model do you recommend?

I just put Sumitomo 19.5's on my truck. They are highway tread. I cannot give you how well they will wear yet. They were 235.00 each, less than the Firestones I looked at originally. The reviews I have read give these tires high ratings. Made in Japan.

I have one year on my Toyo M143s They are highway tread and look like new. They do grab ridges in the road which causes a mild pull which is easily corrected. They are rated to 4805 pounds and mounted on Vision rims rated at 4500 pounds each.

I was running 245/70/19.5 Toyo 608z's on my Vision wheels. Due to age I recently swapped them for BFG ST230 at 245/70/19.5. The BFG's are a highway tread or steer tire. The Toyo's were too agressive for street use only. I have only taken one trip with the BFG's. They were nice and smooth. The BFG's only required 4ounces each to balance. The Toyo's took alot more than 4ounces.

Locally, the Hankook's were going to cost more due to shipping. I'm told the BFG's use the same casing as Michelin. I did consider Sailun. I came across the BFG's at a lower price and couldn't say no. I am running Sailun on a different vehicle in stock size with no problem.

I do use stock size tires on my towrig in the winter. The winter tires are snow rated.

Thanks for the response.

I have another set of 4 wheels/tires for winter use, so the TC carrying setup is only used during the warmer weather.

First why you want to put new tires on the truck that you are not planning to use for next 1/2 a year?
They will age for no reason.
I used to have dually truck with 19.5" wheels and Hancock that come with it used, lasted for another 90k before I replaced them due the age.
That was work truck, so I bought Sailung replacement and those lasted for 60k.
Chinese tires are not famous recommendation but for $150 a piece they worked form me well.
If I read your profile, you have SRW so quality of tires is more important than on dually, but with so many choices and variations, sometimes I advise coin flipping.
