1993 Elkhorn....new to me

Searched for a couple months for a descent truck camper to use a few times a year, mostly on ATV mud riding trips. Have a list of things to do including cleaning, repairing, and securing to my 2011 F250 with camper package. CAT scale on the way home with me, 3/8 fuel, two full propane bottles and not much else put me 440lb over my 10k gross as Ford determined. The truck handled it great for the 2 1/2 trip home.

Looks better in this pic than real life, but not bad for 20 years old. Very temporary tie down system used for the trip home.

Inside pic

A/C blows nice and cold

Outside shower needs a little cleaning

Fridge appears to be cooling down. Have not tried anything that uses gas yet, gunna splurge and have the local RV tech do a PDI including safety check on the propane system first.

Picked up fire extinguisher, smoke/carbon monoxide detector, FeBreze, enough 2x4's, plywood, screws to build a platform to get at least 4inches of cab clearance. Will order a new propane detector.

I'll update occasionally if anyone is interested.

First trip with the Elkhorn was a success. There is somewhat of a learning curve to get used to the much more confined space compared to my travel trailer, especially sitting on the pot to take a shower :E

Only issues were a small water leak at the bathroom sink and the heater set off the carbon monoxide alarm. I had already decided before the alarm not to sleep with the heater on because of it's age and insufficient testing. (separate thread about my heater with dirt dobber invasion)

First time resealing a camper roof, most of the sealant appears to be original. The self levelling sealant works very nicely, learning curve in process as to how much to apply.

think this is about right

more needed on the vent

My plan is to convert to wetbath. Most likley do away with the sink and counter to create more room. I have already cut one piece of FRP board for the outside wall to see how it will look. I've had no luck finding molding for the FRP locally, so I guess will have to order.

Washing did good, no shrinking. Put in the dryer till about half dry then finished drying outside. The curtains pretty much fell apart, so I gotta do something for window cover.

how did washing the cushion covers go? did you dry them, any shrinking? my '94 elkhorn has similar smell, already washed all the curtains.

I'll use the shower/bathroom as is for now, but it's on the short list to remodel.

Had a little musty smell so wiped everything down with bleach water, washed curtains, washed cushion covers and set bowls of vinegar throughout the camper.

got the weak corner beefed up with flatbar and welded nuts using three 3/8 bolts, the other holes got oversized lag bolts. Not perfect, but it is stable now.

Had a leak on hose coming from sink holding tank. JB quick should do the trick.

Yes there is on the right wing. I had turned and nothing happened, but after your suggestion I worked to get it unstopped and drained the tank. Thank You!

How do I drain the fresh water tank? I found two valves to drain the lines but don't see anything for the tank. Sanitized it and need to flush.

If you have access a back up bar with nuts welded to it, fastended to inside, useing least couple of thru bolts would be nice. Doesnt look like, from pic, bolt holes clear corner though)?
Plugging and/or larger bolts if wood is sound. Longer lag bolts though, unless sure there are no wires, could be problematic.
Again could be pics but the jack plates look rather shallow. Otherwise I might add a couple of more, between & further out (not inline) with existing.
