The 835 has seperate black and gret tanks. 8 or 9 gal each I believe.
The 815 has a combined black tank with the shower draining into it.
The 835 is a good camper for a LB but will probably work with a SB.
I don't think the wing boxes will make a difference in aerodynanamics. You are carrying a brick on back of your truck. You will need to arrange to move the brake/taillights to the rear of the camper.
For the same price, I recommend he gets the 845, the same camper made for a SB with more storage and bigger tanks. Also the option for built in generator.

My friend isn't exactly camper savvy. This unit he's looking at was designed for an eight foot bed. His truck is a short bed. I told him about the differences and he doesn't care about the looks. He thinks the absence of box extensions behind the short bed would help aerodynamics. Thoughts on that the pros/cons of using that camper on his truck? I mean, what esle can I tell him about that sort of thing than just looks and loss of storage locations?

And there are both black and grey tanks. Does that mean when you fill your grey you can make a change that then uses the rest of the black before a needing to dump?

On the 835 the shower dumps straight into black tank. You can bypass the shower so the shower water doesn't fill up the black tank

Thanks both of you. I sent the info to my friend, after looking it over myself. Great web site link. I agree, 8 gallons a bit light.

I have a 2007 lance 815 which is very similar. Mine has smaller tanks. I like it for what I use it for which is weekend get aways. Though longer than 3-5 day trips it would get tight. Any questions I might could help not quite sure what you are looking for.
