2005 Durango 5.7l

I know it's not the ideal tow vehicle, but we have a camp planned and the 1996 Chevy C3500 has a bad oil leak from the oil pressure gauge. I've replaced it once, but don't know if I can get to it before we need to go.

My camper is the one in my pic. It's a 23 ft, overall 25.5 ft hitch to bumper, travel trailer. Fully loaded it weighs 6000. According to trailer life towing guide the Durango has an 8700 tow rating. Other than wheel base is there any reason I can't use the Durango this time? Also, is the frame.if the Durango strong enough to handle weight distribution bars?

Any help would be great.

Knew a guy who preferred pulling his 23’ wakeboard boat with that era Durango compared to a Chevy Avalanche.
The real variable is the physical/mechanical condition of an older vehicle. None of us know the history of an almost 20 year old car.

I have the 06. It has 1910 lbs payload(according to sticker). Currently pulling a trailer with 5100 lbs. Does just fine.

If you are within the Durango’s payload, give it a go IMO.

Yes you will be fine to tow with it.

It's body on frame. I used use an older Dakota for similar service. As long as you have the gearing, and a reasonably good antisway wd hitch... why not? I would do it. JMHO
