2016 RAM CTD; Can’t Find Differential Service Interval!

After reading some discussion on servicing the differentials in another thread, I decided to check my manual for the service interval.

In the diesel maintenance section of the Manual, they show the intervals for the Engine Oil, Tansfer Case, Aisin Trans, 68FRE series Trans, Manual Trans etc, but nowhere can I find the service interval for the differential! I even looked in the gasoline section. What am I missing???

I found the section in the manual where they discuss the type of fluid to use, but that’s it.

Do NOT go over 15k with the OE GL.

Here's where it gets interesting; my manual says the same thing verbatim in the box on the left you point to. However, there are no boxes to the right and there are no check boxes showing intervals. Just a huge open rectangular field to the right.

My page would look identical if you erased all the "X's" and all the vertical lines in that row.

I'll use your info.

You are correct; it doesn’t specify it so it must be ok to never change it.

Of course that can't be true 🙂 I'm just going to go with the 30K interval and call it a day. But is it every 30K? Manual doesn't say.

There is an asterisk shown in the box for axle oil. It says when frequent towing, police, taxi, change at 20,000. The first change is the most important because it's dumping the break in trash. NO, you won't see globs of metal on the first change but it's the one that is most likely to produce very fine particles. Depending on how often and how heavy you tow you may choose to extend your interval.

OK, I see what you're referring to now. The refer to "axles" not differentials, which is fine. They still only mention the 20K interval for police, taxi, etc. No mention of 30K anywhere.

The box for the axle oil tells the type but there's no asterisk with a change interval.

Everybody says 30K, and I believe it, just trying to see that in print in the manual.

Download the supplement like THIS

The Supplement is the same as my manual; no mention of the differential service interval.

Every 30k. I would do the first at 10k. Hardly anybody does the axles but it’s a good idea.
