A couple of comments... 1. That fifth wheel hitch looks very questionable. 2. Campers being towed are obviously empty.

I drive too fast for an aluminum hood, dang thing would wrinkle up like foil.

I'll stick to the my tried and true steel bodied GM. it will rot to death from the salt in three years but at least I won't have to deal with the wear and tear from an aluminum hood.

Seriously people are concerned about the aluminum hood. Look at the new tech list in these vehicles...aluminum hoods that have been used in trucks for decades would be the least of my concerns.

You are buying a truck for what it can carry so if every pound saved adds to what it can haul then it does make sense if it doesn't cost too much. I don't put much wear on my hoods anyway.


I believe we will start seeing more and more use of aluminum in HD trucks, to save Payload! We always hear how the 10,000# Class 2 limit hits 250/2500's payload, well we are starting to see that issue with 350/3500 DRW trucks also (F450 also), the Class 3 max is 14,000#, as the construction of these trucks gets heaver the payload goes down, so they need to save weight some how.

Iโ€™ll bet aluminum hoods will show a lot more wear and dents down the road.
Iโ€™m sure itโ€™s a significant amount more $ than stamped steel.

They should have used a truck with the factory rear air ride.

FISH, yes that is a Chinese Made Curt. It gives me about as much of a warm n fuzzy as the Andersen towing in the upper limits.

The Curt is known to cause chucking this is because the heads pivot point is several inches below the kingpin connection height. NOT easy to unhitch from personal experience.
