Looked at this unit Keystone Outback Terrain today at Flagg RV in Uxbridge MA. Until this rear bed slide unit we have been looking at queen bed/ bunks and dinette slide units under 28' We also looked at the North Trail 240BHS today.

Overall the family and I like the Terrain best from all the units we have looked at so far. The wife really likes it and said she was good with buying this model if it's what I want. Interior roominess and storage is better than anything in this length camper we have seen. Having the queen bed and dinette slides really opens up the floor space.

My concerns are:

- Very limited outside storage and that alone may be a deal killer. Not sure where we put all the outside stuff? Only outside storage is in the back behind the spare tire and it's not very deep. Anyone have any ideas how to get past this issue please respond.

- There is no outside vent for the stove hood, only a charcoal filter. This is strange to me as we use our stove vent all the time. There is a roof vent in the kitchen area and maybe adding a fan in the vent will work?

- Construction quality compared to the North Trail was lacking in areas. The sidewalls, ceiling etc are rock solid in the North Trail but the Terrain has a bunch of flex and vibration when I bang on it. Seems like Keystone cut some corners since they separated these units from the Outback lineup.

- DD #1 does not like the fact there is no window in the bottom bunk. The bike door is there but no window. I believe(not sure)The Outback version had a window in the bike door. Top bunk has a window.

- Dump drain/valves are up near the front so we would be using 20' or more of hose at most sites.

- You can tell this particular unit was towed in the winter salt as there is a ton of rust and corrosion on the under carriage, suspension etc. Need to avoid a unit with this issue if possible!!!!!

Please respond with opinions or suggestions.

OK so the deal is done and the order has been placed. Thanks for everyone's input/help.

So now what extras do I need to add on. Here is my list so far.

- Dinette slide awning
- Rear bed slide awning - Is this possible?
- Fan/cover in/on the Kitchen vent. Comes with just a vent-no fan
- Cover on the bathroom vent
- New Equal-i-zer hitch, I think the 1k/10k model? I have the 600lb/6K unit on my existing HTT but I don't think that is big enough

Excellent! I'm very fond of the Outback Terrains, I think you will be too. You can get awnings for both slides...check Camping World for different sizes. I am still debating that mod. As for the hitch, definitely get the 1K/10K bars...I had to do the same thing when I got mine.

I'd say that price is a win! Like I said before, my dealer had my unit and the 250trs prices within $200 of each other.... And you got your 250trs within $200 of what I paid for my unit.

As for extras... I think it's something you feel as you go. I'd upgrade your hitch to the 1k/10k hitch to be within its limits. A fan for the kitchen ceiling vent is an easy upgrade as well.

Other than that, get the trailer and feel it out. You may find it works better than expected as is... You may also find more you need.

So how did you do compared to the wholesalers?

$22482 vs. $21,000 in Ohio. Would have cost about the difference for shipping so I feel that I received a good/fair deal. This was the closest dealer to us(about an hour drive) so that works out well. Never dealt with them but have read some good things about them. Time will tell. Other "local" dealer farther away was at $23,500 and just called me back checking if we could make the deal. Could not get any extras thrown in and I tried every trick in the book.

I've seen some pretty good prices at www.wanarv.com. They will give you a quote with shipping that makes their prices very competitive. Last year I asked them to price a Roo 17 with shipping and the cost to ship was about $4k to the West Coast. If you are closer, and they have a TT that you like, they are a good option.

That price may be without shipping costs, which can be more expensive than you think. Add another thousand or so, even if you plan on getting it yourself, between fuel and travel expenses.

It is a great price though.

If the dealer you were talking to in Michigan was Lakeshore RV, they were the cheapest I could find in my area too. Nobody else would come close to their price, so I ended up buying from them. I'm close enough to go there and talk to them, and I'll pick it up myself(about 3 hours away). There is also a dealer near Cleveland who was about as low of a price, but I seemed to connect with the Lakeshore salesman better. Both were about the same distance from me.

If you can wait and sell your TT yourself, you will certainly receive more. Our HTT was only 9 months off the dealer's lot and had been used only a handful of times. I knew I was getting hosed on the trade, but I simply don't have the time to deal with the process of selling it myself. We entertained selling it on a consignment lot, but I heard horror stories about the one here locally. So in the end, we decided that we made the decision that was best for us. However, sometimes late at night the $6K still smarts a bit. ๐Ÿ™‚

Thanks for all the info. I received two separate wholesaler internet prices of just under $21,000. With this info and yours I have a good idea of where I should be. Need to see if they will throw in some extras.

That is an excellent price. Here on the West Coast the prices are a bit higher. We got our 250TRS for just under $25K. Sadly, we also took a large bath on our HTT to the tune of $6K. You are right to do your homework now...you will avoid the expensive mistake that we made.

I don't know if I can get it for $21,000 locally but those were prices from Ohio and Michigan. I have to weigh travel or shipping costs. I'm curious as to what they will offer for my trade. I may have to sell the HTT on my own. My HTT is in great shape so I think it would sell quick this time of the year.

Just looked through my dealer's brochure... They have the 250trs and 260trs listed. The MSRP of the 250trs is 34,600, and they have a price of $24,500. Both those numbers are within $200 of the prices listed for my unit.

With that in mind, and knowing I had several other dealers quote me prices on mine, I'd say anything below $23k is a good price. A target of $22,300 (like mine) would not be uunreasonable.

For a comparison, call my dealer, located in central PA Lerch RV 800-722-1236. They can give you a price, which will let you know how your dealer compares.

I can't speak for the 250trs, but I was able to buy my 260trs for $22,300. The list price on my unit was $33k approximately. Our dealer had a price of $24,500 listed. Most dealers seemed to list them about $28k. I had one dealer quote me a price to order one at $25k, another at $24k.

I know you didn't like the leather/leatherette decor. I know the "Teak" decor had leather couches. My interior is "moonlight" which does not have leather and I'm very happy with. Private message me if you want pictures of my decor, sometimes dealer photos are hard to judge by.
