I am replacing my a/c unit for the second time in a 2014 TT. The first one was an Advent which had to be replaced 15 months after I got the TT, it was out of warranty by 3 months and Advent wouldn't give me the time of day. I replaced it with a Dometic since I had Dometics on my other 2 units with no trouble from either one. My current one froze up three times while we were on a week long trip in June. Each time I had to melt the ice with the DW's blow dryer. I took it in to a local dealer to have them look at it, they just called to tell me it needs to be replaced again. This time I bought an extended warranty from Dometic, so hopefully this one isn't gonna cost me anything. If this one goes out,I'm gonna sell my TT and take up knitting, lol. I've heard people say we live in a disposable society, I'm starting to believe it.

I have seen numerous posts about the Dometic ACs having this freezing problem and the usual response from the dealers is to run the fan on high instead of auto. Some have reported back that by running the fan on high they no longer experience the freezing coils.

A proper working AC should not freeze up even on low fan or auto unless something is wrong like clogged up condenser coils, or low freon, which is a problem since the unit is sealed.

I agree with you that if a new one is authorized under warranty, by all means get it and hopefully the next one will function properly.

90%- if it froze up, it is an installation issue.

Yes, the separator is in place and the A/C was installed by a mobile RV repair company. You're right about the a/c lasting longer but by the same token, I'm not about to stand under the a/c with a blow dryer every time it freezes up. This unit is under warranty and hopefully replacing it will rectify my problem. No I did not purchase this unit at CW.

Get a second opinion. AC should last longer than that. Dealer makes more money replacing than repairing. Maybe call a mobile tech.

It seems like the dealer would know it but is the separator baffle in place between the intake and outlet areas?

Depends on your model but it may look like this and usually has aluminum foil tape on it.
