"God gave us shins so that we can find our trailer hitches in the dark."

I verified that a few days ago.

Dagnubbit!! :M

Got the TT hooked up yesterday for the first time this season. So what happens?? Of course - I got a big splotch of grease from the ball on a pair of my best jeans. Grrrr....

There's got to be a better way.

I know the feeling! I always drop the tailgate when we return to the campsite so I can't get close enough to the hitch without hitting the gate.

Also be sure your anti-sway friction bar clips are pointed in a safe direction. I sliced my calf open this past summer on one of them.

Oh yes, I've hit my shin. Now I remove the receiver hitch and throw it under the camper after unhooking. Thankfully, I don't have one of those big heavy type that you hook the weight distribution bars to.

Saturday moved my TT for first time since last year. The next day I was putting on my coat and noticed a large grease stain on my coat up near my right shoulder:h Now how did I do that?:S

I have a large knot on my noggin from our new 5er yesterday. Maybe it's just the proximity of time, but it sure hurts worse than I remember the grease tattoo I received from my BP hitch 10yrs ago.

So true...

Not only that, he gave us new clothing to wear at the campground so that we can clean the grease off the ball with them. ๐Ÿ˜ž Every time it happens, I make a note to self. Every time I unhook and set up the TT, I seem to have forgotten that note to self. :M Methinks I will have to make a large placard to hang on the hitch.

Going from a TT to a FW, the pain moves from the shin to the head. I've bumped my head numerous times when I stood up thinking I was clear of the bedroom after getting something from the front storage compartment.

I've gotten pretty good at avoiding bruises, but I have a few pairs of pants with grease stains on them.

And then, of course, there are those metal steps. Note to self -- when the trailer is parked in the driveway and locked, there is no good reason not to fold the steps and put them out of the way, so you don't slam your stupid shin into them again and again when taking the trash cans out to the curb in the pitch dark.

After a while, though, I have started to build up a nice thick cushion of scar tissue in the place where I always hit my leg, so no problem anymore.

Oh man, does that hurt. For this reason alone, my hitch is removed from the receiver if the TT is not hitched to the TV. To go one step further, my 6yo DS is always on the move. He is not careful about things like this, and I don't want bruises or grease on him.
