Been looking at AF TC's recently. Wondering what people are paying from the listed "MSRP"? The models I am looking at are the 996 and 990. MSRP for the 996 was $38,500 !!!

Have you called Apache Camping? They have 2 or 3 locations. I didn't pay list for my then new 811.

Sorry I did an off topic post before. I totally understand why anyone gets a TC instead of a pull type camper, after all, I own a TC. My main intent was to point out that TCs are really high priced and I can't understand the reason. I certainly wasn't putting anyone down for spending whatever they want on their camper.

Between Snomobiling and dragging a horse trailer around I am a confirmed TC guy. The wife saw an AF 990 with the slide and fell in love. Since I upgraded the truck to a Dodge 3500 DRW I said "why not". Then I saw the AF 996 with TWO slides; its a down hill slide from there...

I like to start negotiating at 25% off and wouldn't accept less than 20% off. If I remember right I was at about 23% last time....too lazy to go back and look at old posts! ๐Ÿ˜„

Donn... he may have reached the conclusion that a 36' fifth wheel would not meet his current and near future needs. I almost made the wrong decision 9 1/2 years ago. Thankfully, with some guidance, I was able to make the wrong decision right. For what a TC does, nothing else in the RV industry comes close. Time passes, needs change and the extra modicum of comfort, along with it's limitations, can supersede the desire for the "go anywhere, anytime, SUV of RVs. Hard to entertain, but I'm reaching that point as well.:)

Bob you should be looking at around $30k for either of those campers. If the dealer you are working with is charging MSRP find a another one and take the drive, buy some fuel with the thousands you will save.

I am looking to upgrade to the AF 990 also but with a sofa bed instead of a dinette so I will have to order from the factory. One dealer wanted to charge me MSRP because of ordering it and another dealer quoted me $7k off and was much better to deal with. I have to drive a few hrs deal with them but for the price I will.
.
As for TT/Fiver comments you can start another thread to ask why we like TC versus the others.

I got a quote a couple weeks ago for a new 2013 990 with 4 fast guns, dually jack brackets, and Fox landing for $29,000. 3 years ago I bought an AF 1150 for $26,000 down from a $38,000 MSRP. Last month I sold it for just under $25,000 after 3 years of use so they seem to hold their value pretty well.

You did well on the resale value because you bought it at a very good price. Here on the east side of these great United States you won't touch a new AF for what you are paying in the west. Alot depends on where you are making the purchase.

IMO, you gotta really want to stay with a TC instead of a TT to pay that much for something that will fit in the back of your truck. I still wonder why it costs that much to buy something that doesn't even include running gear or a frame. When I was shopping for my Lance (deciding between a 825 or 865) $20,000 sounded like a lot of $$$$$. Then my girlfriend walked over to a Chalet 3 slide that listed for over $60,000!!!!

Thats an awful lot of money for such a little bit of floor space. Heck, you can buy a near duplicate of my 36 foot fiver for that kind of money. I just dont get it?
