An awning question

I unrolled my awning for the first time this year. It was soaking wet and now has mold on it. I was thinking when I rolled it up for the winters last camping trip that it couldn't get wet at least on the inside of it . Is this a normal thing to happen or did I do something wrong?

Well thanks again for being helpful. That's a lesson learned

Welcome to the RV world. Contrary to popular belief, engineers can be practical jokers. They design awnings for the sole purpose of driving us crazy. You did nothing wrong. Putting some kind of cover on it may help but the engineer will always get the last laugh. They probably have stock in awning cleaner soap.

Entirely normal ... solution is to open it periodically and let it dry out.
