antenna help

Hi,
I am new to rv's so this might sound dumb to . I was trying to raise my antenna , and it would not go up , I noticed that the spring just above crank is missing, could this be the problem? Looking at manual and it show to pull down on ring to move the direction to get picture but the ring is already down because of the spring being gone.

Also part pic show what looked like a bushing that suppose to be there as well is this correct? Do I just remove handle and slide spring back on?
Thanks

Do NOT lube with white lithium or WD-40. Use silicone only. Here's a link to an antenna tune up article:

We're new to RV'ing too and had the exact same issues.

Definitely lubricate it. Climb up top. A little spritz of white lithium grease on the worm gears and it'll raise and lower much, much easier.

Once it's going up and down, raise it then I used a little WD40 to loosen the rotation. Now it spins easily.

thanks, as to turning the ring, It will not move either direction that is why the question about spring, thanks

That is because antenna post/poles/arms are 'stowed' in between the 2 brackets.....they will not allow rotation until antenna is raised at least high enough to clear those brackets
Is it time for your medication or mine?

Is yourRV new? It's possible that the Dicor was laid down then they lowered the antenna on the wet Dicor! Out 05 Cherokee had a sticky spot when trying to raise it. Turns out the problem I had is what I just mentioned.

Crank handle is held onto worm gear drive shaft with an allen screw
Then there should be a nylon washer
Then the spring which presses against direction handle (ring)

Marks on direction handle and on ceiling plate should align for proper stowage of antenna (2 brackets that hold antenna posts when retracted)

After replacing/reinstalling spring, washer etc..might need to go up on roof and check if antenna is in a bind. Could also need some silicone lube sprayed on gear teeth and rotation base

Well it will only raise when you have the ring lined up on the inside on the ceiling.
