My question. Is there a delay, or loss of cooling when the fridge auto switches from electric to gas? My thinking is although the fridge may be cold after running on electricity, it does take time for the propane to heat up things? & my next stupid question: Does one cool better than the other?

My perception is that propane cools a little faster but I don't have any data to back that up. Agree with the ventilation; also not cramming the refrigerator with warm, non refrigerated items such as bottled water, soda, etc. helps the air circulate internally and doesn't place such a huge demand on the refrigerator's ability to cool things down.

Most find propane cools better.
The fridges were originally designed for propane (or natural gas). The electric is an add-on feature.

on the fridge, its not a matter of the "heat source" that impacts cooling, its how well you can "vent" the heat away from the fridge "cooling generation system". People add fans to the "exhaust area" to force air out better which helps the overall cooling "efficiency".

The electric side is a heater also , very little lag time , mine is almost instantaneous . Boy that is a big word , I am glad for spell-check .

Yes there is a delay. Maybe 20 seconds if all is working properly.

Yes, you are over thinking. We are all guilty of this at times.:) And then there are those that don't know/don't care, and are happy campers.

I think you are possibly over-thinking this.
The frig will hold it's temp plenty long enough and the cooling system is already "heated up" when using electricity so when it auto switches to gas there is really very little if any lapse in cooling.
