best fresh water hose

We are buying everything we need for our new TT and are looking at hoses to bring fresh water into the trailer. We want at least 100' since we will be camping at parks where we will often be attaching the hose to taps further away from our site. Are the white ones really the best? Will they leave a nasty taste in the water that comes through? What about a good rubber garden hose? We want a hose that is going to be safe and flexible (not one we are going to have to fight with to role up).

I guess it's different in BC as here in Ontario it would be considered discourteous to hog for yourself any water tap that's not on-site. I suppose one could temporarily connect to a tap across the road or just down a bit but if another camper comes along wanting water it would be expected courtesy to disconnect to allow them to fill their container, etc. Personally I wouldn't connect but instead fill my potable water containers where the tap is located, for later transfer to the trailer's fresh water tank.

A fifteen-foot white hose will work most of the time. To top up your freshwater tank, It is a good idea to have two of those if your fresh tank inlet is not on the same side as the hookups.

I carry 200 feet of ordinary garden hose (four 50-foot lengths) for those campgrounds that do not have water at every site but do have a water tap for common use. So far, I have been able to camp within 200 feet of the tap. (That seems to happen to me about every other year.) Not everyone would want to bother with this or have the space for it, but I have enough space in the center of my fifth-wheel's pass-through storage.

get a hose rated for drinking water purposes. no reason to go cheap on this. I would get several shorter ones rather than one monster. kink proof is also a plus

Not sure what is the best, but for sure you want something other than a basic garden hose. Garden hoses will typically provide a bad taste. There are some very good flexible hoses out there now. NOT the ones advertised by the former TV guy.

Just about any water hose 100' or longer is going to be a wrestling match to roll up. It is best to use a drinking water safe hose, rather than every day garden hose. Yes, most are white, some are blue, but the quality/longevity is usually dictated by price.

I have upgraded mine to this one. It has much better connectors then stamped ones on most hoses. the extra length has come in handy.(yes, I carry two just in case)

Reconsider staying attached to water in favor of filling with water and using your water pump. Less chance of a burst RV water pipe and flooding.
