best fresh water hose

We are buying everything we need for our new TT and are looking at hoses to bring fresh water into the trailer. We want at least 100' since we will be camping at parks where we will often be attaching the hose to taps further away from our site. Are the white ones really the best? Will they leave a nasty taste in the water that comes through? What about a good rubber garden hose? We want a hose that is going to be safe and flexible (not one we are going to have to fight with to role up).

you are learning, and that is good. a quick disconnect which is what you originally stated is meaningless if somebody else wants to hook up a hose. a Wye as I suggested would avoid some issues. but leaving something screwed onto the spigot be it a hose or quick disconnect preventing somebody else from easily hooking up is discourteous.
but obviously you will never admit what everybody else in this thread states, you are in the wrong.

I would never leave a hose connected to a community spigot. I have a Water Thief and use that to fill my fresh water tank. Unhook when I'm done filling. If I needed water at a spigot and some dumbazz had a permanent hose hooked up I'd remove it and leave it on the ground after I got done using the spigot.
Spigots are there for everyone to share.

So let me get this straight ....

I've connected to a community water spigot with my hose so I can fill Aquatainers sitting in the back of my truck OR run the hose back to my trailer sitting on a nearby campsite so I can fill it's fresh water holding tank. Recognizing this is a community spigot for use by all I've connected to with a quick disconnect fitting so should someone come along looking to fill a bucket or pot or whatever I can courteously disconnect to allow them to do so. You come along with a hose for the same purpose I'm using mine for and now you're offended because I got there before you? Seriously? What makes you so special that you'd disconnect my hose and "toss it in the mud"? :@ Tell you what - try it and let's see where that gets you. :R

I've used mine for about 4 years now, quite a bit of use. However, It's a very rare occasion when I stay hooked up to water, and just use mine to fill the onboard tank. As such, the hose seldom sees any real pressure, so if it has or developed a pinhole leak, I'd likely not know it.

It's great for that. takes way less space then a regular hose.

It amazes me how people worry about "what ifs".

Personally in 30,000 mile of towing across a couple of dozen states, I have never had water pressure that my little brass regulator or power issues that my 2000 joule surge protector/polarity checker has not handled.

I have had terrible tasting or no water, I have had power failures but spigot wars? Let's get real.

I am sure there are those who have had these issues, And yes I have had a few major annoyances, the most exciting being a road hazard that shredded my tire, bent the rim and broke one of the TT springs on the Interstate.

But it is all part of the RV life.

Hi,

I use this type of hose:

I had bought a set of four 10' of these hose. I used the daily for over a year, maybe 2 and within about 4 weeks- all of them ended up springing leaks. Was weird- not even at the same campground.

I had similar problems with my flat fabric one, edges wore and leaked. I did buy a semi-flat/oval standard plastic hose once that was easier to roll up and store however.

Reconsider staying attached to water in favor of filling with water and using your water pump. Less chance of a burst RV water pipe and flooding.

x2. if you do hook up, make sure you have a way of regulating pressure. I've been to more than a few sites that have water pressure in the 90psi range or more. Use a watts regulator.

and for a hose I use the collapsable hoses camping world sells. I have a 25ft and a 50ft that wind up into a housing. each one when stored is about 12"x12"x1" nice and neat

I think toss it in the mud would be a good solution for a quick connect that I had to remove to hook up my hose. and why the 2.5 gallon bucket, you hooked up a hose why wouldn't they want to?
discourteous to say the least, but keep trying unsuccessfully to justify this action.

Complete RUBBISH ... I'm not "counting" on anything. :R I've never suggested "permanently" connecting to a community water source, in fact my original post on this subject said exactly the opposite. All I've said is that using a quick disconnect fitting to connect to a community water source is in fact the most courteous way of using this supply because if someone else comes along looking for water I can quickly disconnect and allow them to do so. Another method is to attach a Y adapter so two people can use the same source at the same time, whether either is feeding a hose that in turn is filling a trailer's fresh water holding tank or whether one may be filling a portable container of one sort or another. Good grief, this isn't complicated. :S

Too bad this original question went sideways. I’ve been researching hoses for well over a year now. My findings are your going to comprise on something. I am going to try the white version of The flexzilla hose. I have 2 flexzilla air hoses & have loved them for 2 years now. I know the green flexzilla is drinking water rated but the black mold problems turns me off

What gives you or anyone else more right to hook up a hose to a road side water source than me? :h Using a quick disconnect fitting on my own hose allows those who may come along with a bucket or pan or pot or whatever to grab a few gallons rather than have to wait til I'm done filling my trailer tank ... I'd call that being courteous on my part. If you come along with a hose to your own trailer you can wait your turn, just as I might have also had to do. It ain't rocket science. :S

When did I say "I" had the right to do something so selfish? "I" would not hook a hose to a public spigot that others may need at any time. I would not expect those that want to fill a container to have to unhook and screw around with my hose.

You know very well that many people won't come looking for who ever has his permanent connection on there and they'll just move on. Your counting on that.
