Best steps for our tic's ever.

I have had the Torklift Glow steps for over a year and thought they were the best ever. My bigfoot with a basement needs a lot of steps! My original steps were scary to say the least, sagging and swaying. Glow steps ended that... Now Torklift has added a feature to the glow steps that solves all the problems that camper steps need to be perfect, adjustable feet!

Check it out...

Here's a video of the new Glow Steps:

It's a brand new product that has not yet made it to all the tier 2 distributors. Contact Torklift directly for this product and they will sell it directly to you or point you to a reseller that has already has this new product.

Sorry. Didn't mean to suggest I searched for the part number, I searched on the part number. Also searched for "Landing Gear" and such, and cannot find it on-line. The buy it now button on the Torklift site does not in fact buy anything.

So when will the product be available? I searched on the part number with no luck, and the buy it now link on the Torklift site only sends them contact info. It would be nice to have a set this summer.

I would have like to have seen aluminum with aluminum (especially, paying big bucks for steps like this).

They are aluminum.

X2

They have a hammered paint finish which disguises what is underneath. I was expecting that they would weigh more when I picked the first one up.

When I read the minimalist approach to ladder/step safety I cringe...

When i was younger if I tripped and fell I'd just roll with it, get up and keep going

as I got older I'd be sore....

another few years and janet was breaking bones...tearing up joints

Surgeries, extreme pain, long recover

Maybe the difference in the cost of a cheap ladder or a step stool should be measured in the ultimate cost in human terms instead of in terms related to the cost of the best steps mony can buy.... and the added effort to make them stable in any situation.

How many pennies a day would it take to have the best possible solution?

Life is priceless.

Jim (bigfootford) is one of the smartest people that I've ever personally known... I'd follow his lead...

And I know that he listens, and will be looking to impliment ideas from others to make his project the best ever.

Sleeeepy

fyi... My side intrance 2003 Lance 1161 came with only one sideout and a second fold dowb step leaving a very long next step (long fall) to the ground when we'd get out of the camper.

Within 30 days I adapted a double fold out step that made it just right (that made a totally of 3 outside steps). The replcement step was several inches wider too.

The next year Lance switched to the double fold out step... like the one that I'd changed to.

Good thing they used aircraft grade aluminum (6061-T6) rather than lawn chair grade aluminum (6061-T6). ๐Ÿ™‚

Oops.... i don't understand

Are lawn chairs made with atrcraft grade aluminum.... 6061-T6.... or are aircraft built with lawn chatr grade aluminum?

I'm sure there is clinic for my addiction, but their products are irresistible. Another Torklift product landed on my door step:

This is the All Terrain Landing Gear that can be added to any of the Torklift GlowSteps and many competing scissor steps.

Time to lay out the GlowSteps for surgery:

Two bolts on each side hold the standard U-shaped base. Once you remove the standard base the Landing Gear takes its place.

As you can see, the Landing Gear doesn't take too much space when the stairs are folded up.

I needed to simulate some uneven ground, so a friendly curb stood in for a photo op.

The GlowSteps looked a little naked in that last picture, so I snapped in the GlowGuide.

So where do I haul these GlowSteps? They fit inside and the TC slide slips right over the top.

I've been happy my new steps. By making things modular, you have so many choices to fit your needs. My long GlowStep Magnum run ends before you reach my PowerArmor Max and I don't have to unhitch.

I applaud Torklift offering an off the shelf solution for the scissor steps. The inability to adjust for un-level ground, fixed height has always been an issue. Never understood why this never addressed (that Im aware of) by mfgs of steps.

I do see couple of shortcomings or at least short of ideal. The 1" increments of legs, while nice to push button and drop, seems one might still need to 'shim'. Feet threaded into legs would solve. That and feet should swivel to conform to 'all' terrain, & at least in pic do seem small. Maybe the second generation or an 'off pavement' version of the 'All Terrain Landing Gear' Torklift A8000 will.

Curious what these will sell for. Though likely for 98% of folks a 'bolt on', certainly an improvement to existing steps. Probably just me but unfortunately all I see is need to modify the Landing Gear because they stop just short of fully addressing needs. At least what I identified when I made our adjusters.

Simular to what Skipro suggested, adjustable feet though I used J bolts w/ 5" disks that can swivel matching slope. Having the ability to raise/lowere adjust for uneven ground-cant imagine not having that. To the point when we switched to the Glow Steps I modified to accept the adjusters.

I actually had my original GlowSteps apart trying different combinations. The steps take up a surprisingly amount more of room when offset stacked. I do not leave me mine on the back of the TC when traveling, so compactness did play a role. Going to the 8" deep step is so much easier climbing and going down, but that did add to the bulk when folded too. Adding two steps and the deeper tread made the steps about 85% heavier, but I was more concerned about the bulk of the entire stair/step solution and its stability than the weight.
