^^^^The CP4 pump is a poor design but it is only an issue for those who experience a pump failure. Probably have about equal chance of having a pump failure as I do of dying from colon cancer. Iโm not going to be overly concerned about either happening.

Any diesel built today is a bad choice unless it comes with a lifetime-million mile warranty. Since none of them do, all are bad choices.
If you want a lifetime warranty simply trade your truck every 3 years.
At that point, you could just put the cash in a pile and burn it.

Relying on the collective wisdom of this group for guidance. I do not have any strong brand loyalty beyond american made -- concerned about driving experience, ride comfort, towing capacity for the quoted trailer, and reliability. Make your proposals.
Pretty well set on a diesel, but convince me if I am wrong.
Trailer is 40' UVW 14344 lbs
And location Denver, CO. Lot's of off track discussion here, but bottom line, 1 ton SRW doable, DRW preferred based on size and weight combination.
Ride comfort, all 3 brands are like sitting in a 400+ hp 1000 ft lb living room especially with the higher trim models.
Gas v diesel, someone suggested gas would be ok. Based on your address and budget/taste, a gasser would be a horrible decision.
Reliability? I won't go there and you can read all the pros and cons.
Personally today, right now, I'd take a 2021 Duramax. Ram fixed the CP4 problem, so Ram 2nd, but not in favor of trans. 8 speed is on the near horizon. Ford, 3rd, well because of the CP4 and because I've talked too much sht about Ford over the years to buy one, although it will do a very fine job as well.

Probably not needed, but much more enjoyable to drive than a 3500 right at its limit. Pin weight on an 8+ ton (loaded) 5er will be better than 3000lbs. Maybe a 4500...though I'd go 5500 for the extra 3000lbs capacity.

I agree with going with a diesel and if "American Made" is your requirement (It's my requirement as well) then GM and Ford is your excellent choices.
Well FISH what about the life of the truck the 6.7 PS that's Made in Mexico???????
The OP wants an American made truck that means only Ford and GM fit's the bill and that's how I roll as well. Perhaps you can sing to the choir who will purchase a foreign built truck from a foreign company that's controlled in Europe that don't reflect our values like your Ram product.
